The prime entertainer / performer is one who showcases the effort of the whole team. Although the performer may appear spontaneous, he goes thorough rigorous rehearsals - as an actor, musician or a dancer. The performing arts provides opportunities for not only the frontmen (the actors, dancers and musicians), but also to specialists like VJs, RJs, choreographers and even critics.

A Career in the Performing Arts
    Frequently Asked Questions
Just how tough is it to work in the performing arts? The performing arts professions, though extremely competitive and demanding,
can be very rewarding. To succeed you need personality,
enthusiasm and an ability to learn fast.
Most work is on a short-term contract with long hours and erratic income.
Most actors, for example, have to put up with long periods of unemployment. What kind of work is available? In drama you could work in commercial theatre, fringe theatre and children's theatre.
And of course there is film, television and radio work.
To act in theatre or television it's virtually essential to belong to Equity,
the industry's union. Membership of Equity can only be gained once actors and stage managers
acquire the required number of professional contracts. Graduates of NCDT accredited courses who are legally allowed to work in the UK automatically get an Equity card. What about other jobs?

Master classes in instrumental performance, piano, jazz, voice and composition are presented throughout each semester. Every night of the week, a master class, recital, concert, lecture, music theatre, dance or dramatic production is presented. All of these opportunities for performance and learning engender excitement and energy and foster cross-programmatic enrichment: dancers attend piano recitals; jazz performers learn about musical phrasing at a violin master class; pianists learn pedagogy at a music education seminar; performance majors attend seminars in music business; and so on.
