Canadian Military Aviation Photographic Archives
Enjoy these pictures and this archive, which is the first of its type on the Net as far as I know. The photos of Canadian military aircraft in this archive have been graciously provided free of charge by Canada's Department of National Defence (DND). If conditions permit, this archive will continue to expand. Now you can also jump to the index of on-line Canadian aviation museums, as well as to other Canadian aviation related links.
The Archive:
  • Boeing B-47B Stratojet. This was the only B-47B Stratojet to fly Canadian markings. On loan from the United States Air Force, it served as the test bed for the Avro Arrow's Iroquois engines. Due to the cancellation of the Arrow project, these engines were never used again. The Stratojet is over Malton. (192K)
  • Bomarc Missile A Bomarc missile partially erect at CFB North Bay. This missile replaced the cancelled Arrow as Canada's first line of defence against the Soviet Union. (99K)
  • CC-130 Hercules Three Hercules transport aircraft flying in close formation. (95K)
  • CF-5 Freedom Fighter.

IN WW2, CANADA PRODUCED almost a million vehicles for service with the Commonwealth forces. In addition, the Canadian Army Overseas used a wide variety of miscellaneous British and American hard- and soft-skin vehicles. The categories below display history, specifications and photographs of many of these vehicles. We try to capture the essence of this era through cataloging restored examples wherever possible. This will also include examples of the restoration process. Obviously but happily, this will be an unending job, so please check back regularly as new examples are added and new categories activated. Needless to say, if you have any contributions to offer, please email us with your photos and descriptions (if you're close by, we might even be persuaded to come down and document your project ourselves). Also needless to say, we reserve the right to select and edit submissions based on quality, applicability and available space on our overtaxed server. When one thinks of medals, the image of veterans gathered for Remembrance Day often comes to mind. Hi everyone! Before you enter my world I would just like to say a few things. I have changed this site around in hopes that it would be easier to find things...please write me and tell me what you think.
I would also like to take a few minutes to tell you that I'm only a SPOUSE of the military. I know that this site wears the "CPL" name, and that my email addy has "cpl" in it, but I am NOT in the military.
This site is something that I have thought up of, I hope it seems fresh to you. There's a lot of great military spouse sites out there, and it's hard to be original :)
I would also like to thank all of you that have sent in poems, links and deployment tips. Without you this site wouldn't be as informative as it is. I hope that it's also an interesting site.
Now with that being said, grab a cup of coffee, sit back click on my rose and have fun surfing my site. Be sure to tell others about this. Did I mention that it's a CANADIAN Military Website? O.k I just did...but you'll also find States links, which are great, even if you don't live there.

Canadian Military History is a "journal-in-a-magazine-format" published by the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies since 1992. Presently in its 12th volume, CMH continues to fulfill its original mandate, this being to explore all aspects of Canada's military history, from the earliest days through to the twenty-first century. Particular emphasis is given to the First and Second World Wars, but CMH also carries articles and features on the Seven Years' War, the War of 1812, the Northwest Rebellion, the South African War, the Korean War, United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, as well as more recent events such as the Oka standoff of 1990 and the Persian Gulf War. The articles contained in the pages of CMH are written by professional historians and are well illustrated with photographs and maps. As well, interesting narratives, anecdotes, official reports, veteran accounts, regular columns and book reviews are included in each issue. A notable addition to CMH is a regular section contributed by the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. In this section readers will find special articles concerning museum exhibitions, recent acquisitions, upcoming events, and the museum's extensive collection of Canadian war art.

40. From Colony To Country : A Reader's Guide To Canadian Military History
Bibliography of published literature about Canada s military heritage (War of 1812, Northwest campaign, South African War, Boer War, First World War, WWI) from
http://www.collectionscanada.ca/military/index-e.html
Introduction General Section War of 1812 Northwest Campaign South African War ... Comments
Introduction
Desmond Morton notes in the introduction to his work entitled A Military History of Canada , that Canadians have been described as an unmilitary people. Yet, an examination of any history of Canada describes the participation of Canadians in military events ranging from rebellions within their borders to involvement in two world wars and numerous peacekeeping missions in all parts of the world. These events have clearly shaped the way Canadians view themselves and the way others view us. The published literature on Canada's military history is extensive and much of it is held in the collections of the National Library of Canada. To improve awareness of and access to this material, the Library has prepared this bibliographical pathfinder for the general reader with an interest in learning more about Canada's military heritage. Where appropriate, material of interest to genealogists and family historians has also been included. The pathfinder is a work-in-progress. Sections for other military events are planned, to be added to the site in the future.
