    Question:
I received a foreign award. May I wear it on my uniform?
    Answer:
Canadian honours policy requires Government approval before an order, decoration or medal can be awarded to one of its citizens. Canada will not approve the honour for wear unless it emanates from a head of state or government. Except for courtesy reasons at the time of presentation, honours, unless approved by the Government Honours Policy Committee, cannot be worn with other national honours or on a Canadian Forces uniform. Keltoi Publishing Presents a Novel set in the War of 1812 The Bloody Boy On June 18, 1812, The United States of America declares war on Great Britain . . . and invades Canada. Thus begins the incredible War of 1812. Jacob Baker, a former street urchin, now a grenadier in the 49th Regiment, Brock's own Green Tigers, is sworn to defend British North America and committed to protecting Nancy, the woman he loves, from the invading Americans. He is one of thousands of British soldiers who find themselves embroiled in Canadian History. Jacob and his company are thrown again and again into the path of the invaders. He must survive battle, mutiny, the British Army, and the high casualty rate of the War of 1812 to get back to Nancy. The Bloody Boy tells the gripping tale of a young man caught up in a war that seems, at times, stranger than fiction. A work of historical fiction, it describes historic events and people in accurate detail that makes it an ideal supplement to Canadian History Courses. View excerpts from The Bloody Boy About the Author Doug Thomas was born, raised and educated in Upper Canada (Southwestern Ontario) sometime after the War of 1812. He continues to reside and to teach there.

I would like to request that all users who correspond with any of these agencies indicate that you found the information on the Internet . In this way, the word will get around that this is an effective communication medium. It's a very effective form of education and such organizations all have self interest reasons for creating demand and constituencies for their services. Thanks.

    HISTORY
    1. The Boer War in 1899 impressed upon the Canadian Government the need for a permanent army. The General Officer Commanding the Canadian Militia recommended the organization of a permanent corps of engineers and as a result the "Canadian Engineer Corps" was formed on 1 July 1903. In 1904 it was renamed the "Royal Canadian Engineers" and it had an establishment of 7 officers and 125 other ranks in 1906 when the last British troops departed Canada. 2. The "Great War" saw Engineers quickly dispatched to Europe with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Included with the Engineers were the railway companies and the forestry corps. In all more than 40,000 Sappers were involved in the fighting. After WW I demobilization resulted in an establishment of just over 200 members. 3. Declaration of war in 1939 resulted in RCE units being reorganized and re-equipped. In December 1939, the First Canadian Divisional Engineers were formed and dispatched to England. RCE units were involved in the majority of European operations, from Dieppe, North Africa, through Italy, France, Holland and Germany. By the end of the war the overseas RCE strength was 685 officers and 15,677 other ranks. 4. Sappers were again called to arms during the Korean conflict. Military Engineer involvement included road, airfield and camp construction, demolition work and bridging in particular.

    CANADIAN MILITARY POLICE
Prior to the First World War, there was no unit in Canada that resembled a modern military police element.
    North West Mounted Police
In 1885, the NWMP (North West Mounted Police), forerunners of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, fought in the North-West Rebellion at Duck Lake, Fort Pitt and Cut Knife Hill in pursuit of Big Bear. During the Second Anglo-Boer War from 1899-1902, 290 all ranks served in two mounted rifle units, namely the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles and Lord Strathcona's Horse.
After being conferred the prefix "Royal" by King Edward VII (1904) the RNWMP provided a cavalry squadron in World War I, and after WWI, a RNWMP squadron served with the Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force from 1918 until 1919.
    Canadian Military Police Corps
During the first years of the WWI, Regimental Police were the only police element in the Canadian Army. The situation was such that the 2nd Candian Division made their brigades responsible for the provision of "Trench Police" to perform traffic control duties. The Canadian Military Police Corps was formed during October, 1917 with a total of 850 all ranks.
The CMPC school was formed at Ottawa, 1 June 1918, and closed ten months later on 11 March, 1919.
