The Canadian Book Ring
A web ring for Canadian sites which are primarily about books. These could be publishers, authors, booksellers, or literature sites. This ring was started by members of the BooksCanada Mailing List , but is not limited to that membership. Web rings are a form of web community. Surfers can move from site to site within the ring by means of a link at the bottom of the page, until finally they are returned to whichever page they started from. This allows the surfer to stay within the topic which interests them, at the same time that it increases the traffic to each site within the ring. It's completely free. You can apply to join the ring, and once you've added the html fragment to your website and your site has been approved, your ring membership will be activated. Your site will be approved so long as it meets these criteria:
  • Primarily about books
  • Canadian
  • Substantial content (must contain more than a simple business name and contact info)
  • You MUST place the ring fragment on the exact page you have submitted. (I will not approve any site where I have to hunt for the fragment!)
If you are already a member of the Canadian Book Ring, you can

A nation of five million people, Finland is situated between West and East, between Sweden and Russia, sharing for thousands of years religious, historical, political, social, and cultural influences and experiences with its neighbours and the different worlds they represent. Finnish studies at the University of Toronto are presently engaged in teaching the Finnish language - a three-year sequence together with a linguistics course, to be introduced later, that will be of interest to all students of language - and in offering other courses on the literature and culture of Finland. • Although we no longer issue print catalogs, we usually try to have some downloadable catalogs in our archives, and we are always happy to send quotations where possible. We also accept want lists within our specialities only (fiction magazines; and science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, detective, and books about these fields, including non-genre books written by authors best known in these genres), by e-mail , regular mail, or fax (sorry, we cannot handle want lists over the phone). Our network of scouts is quite effective in locating out-of-print material in these fields.
  • You can find out more about Pandora's and the people who run it on our history page. We currently have about 200,000 books, magazines, and other material in stock, comprised of one or more copies of about 100,000 titles.
