The Organ

Their infectious pop melodies, lyrical shadowplay and impassioned vocals recall some of the most beloved bands of the late '70s and early '80s, but there's something different about Vancouver’s the Organ. Not only are they all girls, but three of them are complete amateurs chosen and taught by the band's classically trained singer and musician, Katie Sketch. Embraced across the country for their 2002 EP, Sinking Hearts, the Organ are set to unleash their brilliant debut album, Grab That Gun. By Lorraine Carpenter
Bad Religion's Brett Gurewitz Exclusively Interviewed by (International) Noise Conspiracy's Dennis Lyxzén
Brett Gurewitz is the co-founder of L.A.-based Bad Religion, one of America’s most enduring and important punk rock bands. Dennis Lyxzén is the leader of fashion-conscious Swedish garage punks the (International) Noise Conspiracy and former vocalist for vanguard prog-core practitioners Refused. Although they hail from different continents and different generations, they are two of the more relevant political voices in contemporary music.
Perspectives From the Decks
With DJ Dopey’s 2003 World DMC title following up on the reign of Montreal DJ A-Trak and consistently dominant team showings by Funky Teknicianz Jr-Flo and M-Rock, and the emergence of Halifax's Skratch Bastid, Canadian turntablism has risen to the heap of the world scene. Key DJs from different stages of their career weigh in on tough skills, high pressure, and the future of their scene.

Am I Canadian? Shaun Tanaka

Perhaps it is because I am a hapa who has invested a number of years into researching the Japanese Canadian community, and am greatly concerned about its survival, that I carry such a disparate view. I feel that most people who see hapas as the possible demise of an authentic Japanese Canadian community are focused primarily on the disappearance of visible indicators of culture, for instance, language, in-group marriages, religion and close geographical proximity between group members. However, this perspective fails to recognize the possibility that Japanese Canadian culture can persist and be maintained across generations in a translated form. Living Lakeside - Making, Marketing and Selling eBooks
Why not supplement your retirement income with an internet business? There is an amazing business opportunity now available to anyone with internet access. Yes, I know you have heard that before, and on research found it to be a scam more intent on separating you from your money than allowing you an opportunity to earn a decent income. This really is different. Let's get the fearful cost question out of the way first
  • The Question: What is this going to cost me?
    The Answer: That's all. Really!
The economics of business on the internet are different from regular 'bricks and mortar' commerce. Start-up and maintenance costs are lower. Advertising costs, however, are still very high. In this instance, a new business is making a percentage of profits available to you, just for 'spreading the word' about this opportunity. The best way to do that of course, is to create a web site but you can also use even simpler methods, like a 'signature-line' on all your personal email, and on messages you post to discussion groups on-line. Even old-fashioned word of mouth will work, as such a large proportion of your friends and aquaintences are already using the Internet or should be if they aren't. If you introduce just a few of your friends to this program, and they introduce a few others ... soon everyone will know about this which is exactly the goal of the parent company, of course! Now if this is beginning to sound like Network Marketing, or Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) don't panic. It

The Jesuits claimed:
"Not a cape was turned, not a river entered, but a Jesuit led the Way" The People said: The Jesuits (black robes) are damnable liers (liars). Even the most amateur of historian knows the actual explorers of New France (Canada and the American West) were without question the Coureurs de Bois and Metis. The First People had little desire to explore America: They however led the way for the Coureurs de bois and Metis They were fully aware of the four seas to the north/south, east/west, they believed their own location was the best. "These are the Peoples who learned to live without the bold accents of the national ego-trippers of other lands." Marshall Herbert McLuhan (1911-1980) The life of the Coureur des Bois was one of adventure, freedom, danger and travel.

Alberta
The district of Alberta was created in 1882, and enlarged to become a province of Canada on September 1, 1905. The name was suggested by the Marquess of Lorne, Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883, in honor of his wife, H.R.H. Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, daughter of Queen Victoria. British Columbia
Much of the mainland region was originally known as New Caledonia; however, this name (duplicated in South Pacific) was discarded in favor of British Columbia. The designation appears to have originated with Queen Victoria and was officially proclaimed in 1858. Columbia (after the Columbia River which was named by the American Captain Robert Gray for his ship Columbia ) had previously been loosely applied to the southern portion of the colony. Manitoba
Created as a province in 1870, the name was probably first applied to Lake Manitoba. There are two theories as to the origin of the name. (1) It is of Assiniboine origin:
