Demographic Profile of Santa Barbara County
    Compiled by: Fatche Takarlekian
Part 1: Demographic Profile based on U.S. Census 2000
    • Santa Barbara county is not one of California's biggest counties, in fact t is somewhat one of the small counties with only 399,543 comparing to other counties like Los Angeles which has 9,637,494. Santa Barbara accounts to California's 1.1 % of the population. For the past 100 years we can see that the county has been growing bigger because population is getting bigger.
    • Santa Barbara is also very divers in ethnicity. Just like other California counties, Santa Barbara also has many different ethnicities. Approximately 50 percent of the county's population is from other cultures like Asians, Latinos, and Blacks
    • Immigration is also a problem in Santa Barbara. Many people move into Santa Barbara from other cities or even from other nations.
    • The housing situation in Santa Barbara comparing to the State of California is almost approximately the same. Almost half the population owns their own houses. Even the people living in household are almost the same as the state of California.
    • Financially Santa Barbara County's income level is also well. It is just about $800 less then the rest of California's income. The poverty level is also approximately the same as the rest of California.
