Well, not exactly. Although the city's birth, marriage and death certificates perished, there are still many resources available. The biggest one is newspaper notices . We have been collecting them and publishing them on this site (see the links down below).

The Orange County California Genealogical Society (OCCGS) is a non-profit, educational organization in Huntington Beach with 700 members. It's purpose is to collect, preserve and disseminate knowledge and information in regards to genealogy and related historical, biographical and heraldic data. It strives to instill and promote interest and instruction in genealogical research. OCCGS provides full maintenance and development of the Genealogy Collection housed at the Huntington Beach Central Library ( lower level ), which now contains over 17,000 volumes. SOUTH ORANGE COUNTY CALIFORNIA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY

SOCCGS was founded in 1994 in Mission Viejo, Orange, California with the purpose to preserve and disseminate knowledge about, and to stimulate interest and provide instruction in genealogical research. Meetings are held the third Saturday of each month from 10am to noon at the Mission Viejo Family History Center Institute Building at 27976 Marguerite Parkway (Between Medical Center Drive and Hillcrest). The Mission Viejo Library opened October 25, 1997 and generously provided a space for our genealogical collection of books and CDs. In May of 2002 the new south wing was opened and the genealogy section was moved into the new area. The library is located at the corner of La Paz and Marguerite Pkwy. To reach the library from the 5 Fwy take LaPaz east for approximately 1 mile to Marguerite Pkwy.
Library Hours
Monday thru Thursday - 10 am to 9 pm
Friday - 1 pm to 5 pm
Saturday - 10 am to 5 pm
Sunday - Noon to 5 pm. Online genealogy library catalog (as of Dec. 31, 2003).

  • The French-Canadian Heritage of California (FCHSC) is affiliated with the Southern California Genealogical Society (SCGS). It is one of several groups operating at the SCGS. The primary purpose of the FCHSC is to foster an interest in our common French-Canadian heritage by researching our own French-Canadian ancestors as well as helping others research theirs and by supporting and making available to the public one of the largest collections of French-Canadian genealogical material in the country. We meet 5 times a year at the library of the SCGS in Burbank. In addition to helping others with their research, we sometimes have programs of interest. April Evening Meeting Monday, April 22, 2003 "Ship Passenger Lists" David Perkins David Livingstone Perkins was born in a small, two room farmhouse in northeastern South Dakota on 1 September 1928. He suffered through the Depression and Dust Bowl days of the early 1930's while attending a one room country school. He completed twelve years work in eleven, graduating from high school at sixteen. He enlisted as a Naval Aircrewman and spent the next eight years on active duty. After discharge from the Navy, in 1953, he worked for a brief period at the Lockheed plant in Marietta, GA Then he worked for Northrop Aircraft at Cape Canaveral on the USAF Snark intercontinental missile. In 1957 Dave moved on to the Convair Division of General Dynamics and became a Technical Representative with the USAF on F 102 and F 106 delta winged, coke bottle shaped interceptors. Upon completion of the Convair contracts Dave went to work for the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale where he spent the next twenty eight years working on the Polaris, Poseidon and Trident Underwater Ballistic Missile programs for the Navy.
