A Parent Resource Center Community Equity The Context: School Renewal Through Creating a Parent Center Parents must have a sense of "buy-in" with the school; therefore, it is critical that the parent center be a place on campus provided by the school and that parent groups are responsible for maintaining. It is essential that the school demonstrate to parents that parents are worthy of school space and support Where is this taking place? Parent Centers are currently in place in several schools in Southern California. The Foshay Parent Center at Foshay Junior High School in Los Angeles, California has been in place since 1993. In that time it has become a stellar program where parents are provided educational, social, and recreational programs. Foshay has become a model for many other schools currently implementing parent centers. Who was instrumental in putting this into place?
