Then, the Buddha was addressing sixty-one Enlightened human beings; now, those of us reading this are probably not Enlightened. Then, those followers went forth into a predominantly rural society containing a few small towns and cities; now, we live in great conurbations of millions of human beings, in cities large enough to appear from space as myriad lights weaving humanity's constellation around our planet. To go now and work for the benefit of the many is to carry the light of the Dharma into the streets of our cities. In those cities are to be seen great beauty and great ugliness: complex scenes where extremes of wealth sit side by side with extremes of poverty- material, cultural and psychological. Glasgow, where I live, is one such city.

Hubert "Bert" Childress, Jr.
Hubert "Bert" Childress is best described as a family man who is dedicated to protecting the constitutional rights of the common man through the practice of plaintiff's personal injury law. Born in Butte, Montana in 1944, Bert served honorably in the United States Navy from 1961-1965. Bert graduated from college with honors in 1971. He earned his law degree in 1974 and immediately passed his bar exams. Bert is a member of the Brevard County Bar Association, The American Bar Association, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America and The Academy of Trial Lawyers. Bert is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Court for the Middle District court, the Eleventh Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals and the U. S. Supreme Court. In 1984, Bert was Board Certified by the Bar as a specialist in "Civil Trial Law." Bert has distinguished himself in the legal community for his tireless effort as illustrated by his numerous million dollar recoveries. Both Bert and Steve are involved in community activities, and each year they actively teach classes as part of the People's Law School. Bert has an adult son by his first marriage, and he has three school-age girls with his second wife, Wendy. When not spending time with his family, he enjoys motorcycling, gun collecting and reading. Bert is also a physical fitness enthusiast.

The “Ideal” Active Chapter The “Ideal” Active Chapter Every member deserves to be a part of a good chapter and to have the ideal experience. One important thing we learn from Kappa Alpha is that we should never submit to mediocrity. Whether we are competing in the championship intramural game, fund-raising for our national philanthropy, studying hard for our final exams, or working hard to win the George C. Marshall Award for chapter excellence, we should always strive for excellence. The active chapter has to work hard together as a team to reach its goals and in return it will have a more enjoyable chapter experience. Every member deserves to be a part of a good chapter and to have the ideal experience. The charter that hangs in your chapter house gives the chapter the honor and privilege of being a part of the KA family. Each charter, issued under laws adopted by the Convention, is signed by the Knight Commander. This document symbolizes the chapter’s acceptance of the duties and obligations associated with membership. All Kappa Alphas are bound together by the same bond of brotherhood and, in this aspect, all of our chapters are the same. This section explores all of the necessary areas of chapter operations for a chapter to be successful. Chapter Operations The daily operations of an active chapter resemble those of a small business. Chapter sizes range from 20 members to 160 members and budgets of $10,000 to $800,000 annually. By becoming an active member of a fraternity, you quickly learn leadership and management techniques to keep your business (chapter) afloat and prospering. Book Description Customer Reviews The book on a whole was very informative. I learned quite a bit about ASP from reading it. The authors spend a lot of time towards the beginning of the book on XML and I'm not really sure what the connection between the two are. It almost seems like they should've written a separate book on XML rather than including it with this one. Also, I found quite a few typos throughout the book in the text and some of the code examples. Luckily I'm familiar enough with html that I was able to catch them, but for a beginner the errors could be really confusing. The books was very helpful in my programming. I used many of the examples from book in my code. I think that if you are a beginner wanting to learn some Server side scripting this book will be an excellent place for you to start. Thanks

Departmental Structure
    Operations Division - The Operations Division is the largest segment of the department. The division is primarily comprised of uniformed personnel. Patrol is the largest bureau which consists of approximately 70 sworn officers and community service officers. Patrol is divided into three watches; morning, day and night. Each watch is managed by a lieutenant and supervised by two sergeants. The watch is staffed according to the demands of the particular time period. The Special Operations Unit handles traffic and parking enforcement, animal services, special events, and the Reserve Officer program. Investigation and Services Division - Follow-up investigations and support services are the primary functions of the division. Criminal investigations are handled by detectives in specialized assignments such as crimes against persons, property, auto theft, fraud and crimes committed by or against juveniles. Narcotic and vice investigations are conducted by the Special Investigations Unit. The DARE Program is staffed by two full-time police officers. The Records and Communications Bureau serves the community 24 hours a day. Dispatchers answer and evaluate 911 calls and are responsible for initiating police, fire, and paramedic responses.

James F. Moore is an expert in leadership and change in large scale social, economic, and technical systems. His current projects include: 1. Starting new study of health and health care systems, hoping to go beyond current approaches to reform by examining the systems relationships among consumer behavior, health care coordination and process improvement, information technology, and law and public policy. 2. Maintaining an ongoing action-research study of the Internet and political and social change, focusing on the role of citizen participation and new forms of interactive media. 3. Completing a three-year action-research study of "digital development" in Africa, examining the relationships among entrepreneurs, technology, law and public policy. 4. Continuing a twenty-year participation in the evolution of the computer and communication sector, with primary concern for innovation, business strategy and leadership, industry structure, and the role of volunteerism and popular movements such as Open Source Software. Currently Jim is engaged with the development of so-called "top level" media sharing using RSS and related technologies to create personal media networks and new types of groups and communities. Jim became a Senior Fellow at HLS' Berkman Center in the spring of 2000. He founded the Open Economies Project (funded by Hewlett-Packard) and worked to bring the attention to the legal dimension of technology and economic issues in the developing world. In 2003 he helped co-teach the school's Digital Democracy course, as well as an online seminar on law, technology and economic development.

Schools Must Count the Ethical Cost

WASHINGTON - Ever since the Enron scandal, business schools - the training grounds for corporate tycoons - have been forced to face the fact that they have failed to produce honest brokers. Why they have failed is a complex and revealing tale, one that I can relate from personal experience, having taught ethics at Harvard Business School, or HBS, from 1987 to 1989 - the years many of today's current corporate officers were in training. HBS - which deserves particular scrutiny, as the school to which many others look when they design their own curriculums - had little in the way of formal ethics teaching in 1987. And that was typical. A 1988 survey of MBA schools found that only one-third had a required ethics class. It was in 1987 that John Shad, then chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Commission, made a personal donation of some $20 million to HBS to support the teaching of ethics. On April 21, 1989, after months of contentious debate, an initial proposal was put up for a faculty-wide vote. As a visiting professor, I was sitting in the bleachers - and I witnessed a memorable scene. Reactions ranged from distrust to outright hostility. One economist argued that "we are here to teach science." Another faculty member wanted to know, "Whose ethics, what values, are we going to teach?" And a third pointed out that the students were adults who got their ethics education at home and at church. By the meeting's end, the project had been sent back to the drawing board.

Name: John Schitte. Age: Newsworthiness: Is one of Ireland's leading personal injuries lawyers, he is strongly opposed to the Solicitors' (Amendment) Bill 1998. Now before the Seanad, the measure proposes to restrict solicitors' advertising, which the government believes is partly responsible for the huge increase in army deafness claims. A recent edition of Public Sector Times carried the alarming headline 'Semi-states to be smothered by asbestos claims'. The story told us that Telecom Eireann, CIE, ESB and Aer Rianta were gearing up for a costly legal battle with public sector workers claiming health damage as a result of exposure to asbestos. Further down, high-profile personal injuries solicitor John Schitte was quoted as saying: ''I expect that this is something which will run and run and, as more and more people become aware of it, I think an increased number of claims will be lodged. ''We have been approached by public sector workers who have done work with asbestos recently and are concerned about the health implications. Even if there are none, they are entitled to compensation for anxiety, as it will be an issue for them over the next 20 years or so.
