Scuba diving in Burma
E njoy a trip you to The Mergui Archipelago (Myanmar) , a unique area both above water as well as below. There are over nine hundred islands , all but two of them uninhabited, scattered over an area of some 12000 square miles. You will never forget the breathtaking scenery, virgin rainforests and diving on reefs that have never been explored before. T he Archipelago was strictly closed to all foreigners until in 1997. We were among the first yachts which were granted permission to undertake diving charters in Burma / Myanmar . Since then we have built up a wealth of knowledge about the area which is rivaled by very few others. Because of it's isolation, this place is only superficially charted, the interior of many of the islands has never been surveyed at all. Wildlife is abundant, as is the vegetation on the rain forest -clad islands. Beaches are clean and stretch for miles.Pure nature! O ur diving and sailing charters in Myanmar take you to remote areas where you will rarely see any other yacht. The only humans you are likely to encounter are the friendly Moken Sea Gypsies who roam the area in their small boats, like their ancestors have done for centuries.

On this website you will find a lot of photos about Myanmar (Burma).
No big story, only pictures.
I visited Myanmar for the first time in September 1997 and fell in love not only with the country, but also with a charming lady from Myothit (New Bagan) who is now my dear wife.
Ma Ni Ni Too and I are both living together in The Netherlands since January 1998 and we try to visit our Myanmar family and friends at least once a year. It is on these occasions that I take my photographs in this beautiful country and of its lovely people.
Trekking in the Myanmar Himalayas
I have been three times in Kachin State in the north of the country as a tour guide, leading treks through dense jungle and forest. Goal is the top of Mt. Phon Kan Razi situated on the Indian border far from the civilized world. Photographs about this trek from the little town Putao to the summit of this mountain can be seen on the Mt. Phon Kan Razi Trek

The Golden Triangle warlords want to climb the investment food chain, moving to resorts and tourism, but the result looks less Las Vegas than Thailand's Tijuana TROUSER PEOPLE - Burma has been in a terrible slump, on and off the soccer pitch. A new book traces the arrival of the sport a century ago, showcasing along the way not only Burma's modern misery, but decades of headhunting and good old-fashioned colonial repression.
