    Geography of Burkina Faso
Word: Word Starts with Ends with Definition Burkina Faso Burkina Faso is a landlocked nation of western Africa. Formerly called Upper Volta, it was renamed in 1984 by President Thomas Sankara to mean "the land of upright people" in Mossi and Dyula, the major native languages of the country. Independence from France came in 1960. Governmental instability during the 1970s and 1980s was followed by multiparty elections in the early 1990s. Several hundred-thousand farm workers migrate south every year to Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.
Click the link for more information. (formerly Upper Volta) is a landlocked Sahel The Sahel (from Arabic for shore or border) is the boundary zone in Africa between the Sahara to the north and the more fertile region to the south, known as the Sudan (not to be confused with the country of the same name). The Sahel is primarily savanna and runs from the Atlantic Ocean to the Horn of Africa. The countries of the Sahel include Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia. Sahel is also used about the countries of West-Africa.
