Tours and Holidays in Brunei General Information
There are many opportunities on how to book your holidays in Brunei. You can either book your entire trip from abroad with an outbound tour operator or book just your flight and arrange your tours with a local agent either from home or locally, or go entirely independently. A lot will depend on the available budget and how much time one wishes to dedicate.
Independent travel can be very interesting but is in many cases more time consuming. For some destinations you may rely entirely on a tour operator's or resort's transport facilities. Brunei has many local tour operators, concentrating on different types of tours.
Many tour operators offer any of the following popular tours or a combination of those. This listing should also give you some ideas on what to do and should serve as a guide on how much time you should make available for each activity.
Since this is your site we are very interested in receiving your comments and suggestions.

History
Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum

The Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum, at Nos.48 and 50, JalanTun Tan Cheng Lock, is the ancestral home of three generations of a Straits-born Chinese Baba family. The building is now converted into a stunning museum that preserves the unique legacy of the Babas. The hour-long show is presented at 8.30pm (Bahasa Melayu) and 10.30pm (English). Admission is RM5 for adults and RM3 for children. Air Keroh Recreational Forest
Fifteen kilometers east of Malacca is Air Keroh, a vast tract of diverse tropical forest with excellent camping facilities, nature trails, and picnic spots. Visitors can lodge in cabins or enjoy a night in a treetop house.

BRUNEI DARUSSALAM Diana P.P. Cheong COUNTRY PROFILE Brunei Darussalam is situated in the northwestern coast of Borneo and covers a land area of 5,765 sq km. It has a population of nearly 300,000 comprising two-thirds Malay and the rest, other indigenous people, Chinese and expatriates. According to 1994 population figures, 61% of Brunei’s population is under the age of 30 years while only 6.6% is above 55 years of age. Brunei Darussalam was a British protectorate from 1906 to 1983 during which time it was known simply as Brunei. In 1984, when it gained full independence the longer name was adopted and it means ‘Abode of Peace’. Although Brunei Darussalam still holds close links with Britain (for example in the educational arena), politically, it is a sovereign, democratic Malay Muslim Monarchy. At present the government consists of 12 ministries.

Canadian theatre troupe takes a bow in Brunei
Pantomima's public performances, school performances and drama workshops turned out to be very popular locally, as Brunei sees very little outside cultural entertainment, particularly from Western countries. They made a major impact on local audiences during course of their visit, and left very positive impressions of Canada and Canadian children's theatre. Pantomima also generated considerable media interest; a large number of articles about their visit appeared in the local Malay, Chinese and English dailies, and the group was also featured on two national television newscasts. His Royal Highness Prince Mateem, youngest son of the Sultan of Brunei, attended the public performance in Bandar as Guest of Honour. Prince Mateem has now attended several Canadian cultural events. The Pantomima visit assisted our ongoing efforts to introduce Canada, its people and its culture to Brunei, and to highlight the quality of our cultural performers. Hopefully, over time this will help to generate more interest in Canada as a tourist, and trade/investment destination, and encourage young Brunei citizens- and their parents- to consider studying in Canada in the future.

This is the second phase of the Asia Center-supported project to rekindle the 'spiritual' sense among Cambodian children in an educational environment through library activities. Various activities have been continued from the previous year.
