Along its deeply indented Pacific coast lie many islands, notably Vancouver Island (c.280 mi/450 km long) and the sparsely inhabited Queen Charlotte Islands. The province is almost wholly mountainous, with the Rocky Mts. in the southeast, the Coast Mts. along the Pacific, and the Stikine Mts. in the northwest. Chief of the many rivers is the Fraser, which, with its tributaries, drains much of central and S British Columbia as it flows to the Pacific. Other rivers in that region include the upper Columbia and the Kootenay. In the north are the Peace, the Stikine, the Nass, and the Skeena. Hydroelectric resources in British Columbia are highly developed; large plants along the rivers operate pulp and paper mills. The station at Kemano on the Nechako River serves one of the biggest aluminum plants in the world, at Kitimat. Long, narrow lakes are found throughout the interior, supplying vast backwaters for dams; Williston Lake, on the Peace River, is the largest of these.

Whenever I return to British Columbia, I feel like I'm going home. Perhaps it's because of all the "growing up in BC" stories I have heard from my parents or maybe I just have an affinity with the mountains and ocean. Regardless, I will always "go home" to BC whenever I get a chance.
It doesn't matter where I return to: the city life of Vancouver, skiing on Whistler Mountain, eating fresh-picked cherries in the Okanogan Valley, walking on Long Beach, checking out the animals in tidal pools or having tea at the Empress Hotel in Victoria - I love it all.
British Columbia is the western-most province of Canada. Alberta is on the east, Montana, Idaho and Washington are on the south border, the Pacific Ocean is on the west, Alaska is on the north-west while the North-West Territories and Yukon are on the northern border.

    British Columbia (BC) Canada
British Columbia (BC) is Canada’s western-most and third largest province. British Columbia's Geography is extremely varied.  It is bordered by the province of Alberta to the east, by the Canadian territories of Yukon and Northwest Territories to the north, by the Alaskan panhandle and the Pacific Ocean to the west and by the American states of Washington, Idaho and Montana to the south. Off its southwest corner, BC’s coast is dotted with hundreds of islands, including Vancouver Island. More than three quarters of British Columbia’s land area is mountainous. The Rocky Mountains run the length of the BC, cutting diagonally from the southeast to the northwest and are flanked by a series of smaller ranges. Almost 60 per cent of BC is covered with forest, 10 per cent is farmland and freshwater lakes and rivers cover less than two per cent, about 18,000 square kilometers (11,185 square miles). British Columbia is a place of remarkable culture and beauty. Against a backdrop of breathtaking landscapes are numerous experiences to enjoy including: world class ski resorts and golf courses, countless festivals, unique artisans, museums and galleries, First Nations heritage, outstanding hiking and outdoor adventure opportunities, exclusive guest ranches, luxurious spas, hot springs and delectable cuisine. Vancouver Island is the largest island off the west coast of North America . Tucked against the mainland coast of British Columbia and the north shore of Washington State's Olympic Peninsula, Vancouver Island occupies an area about the size of Holland . It stretches 500 kilometres (320 miles) southeast to northwest with an area of 3,175,000 hectares (9,493,171 acres) and 3,460.0896 kilometres (2,150 miles) of coastline. It is separated from Vancouver BC by the Strait of Georgia to the east and from Washington State , by the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the south and southeast. Vancouver Island is actually closer to the United States than to mainland west coast Canada A mountainous spine runs the length of Vancouver Island , breaking into long mountain fjords on its west coast that cut deeply into the island. Alberni Inlet cuts more than halfway through the island, ending at the community of Port Alberni . Saanich Inlet, in the Victoria area, is one of the few fjord inlets on Vancouver Island 's east coast. Along its southern half, the relief is so rugged that the

    Vineyard and Cellars LTD.
Geography Lesson Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars is located in the province of British Columbia in a region known as the Okanagan. Comprised of one great long valley and the low-lying mountains that flank it, the Okanagan starts at the centre mark of the shared border of British Columbia and Washington State (USA). The valley stretches northward from the town of Osoyoos to Vernon. Two major lakes, Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake run down the centre of the valley with many other smaller lakes adding to the beauty. Blue Mountain overlooks spectacular Vaseaux Lake which is surrounded by a protected wilderness preserve. The winery is located about 45 minutes from the Canada/US border near the small town of Okanagan Falls. From Vancouver, it's about a five hour drive to the area. The nearest town with major air access is Penticton, about 30 minutes north of Blue Mountain.
The Okanagan is a popular vacation destination year-round. In summer, favourite reasons to visit include water sports of all kinds, houseboat vacations, hiking and cycling. Many British Columbians make the Okanagan an excursion to buy farm-direct produce. Summer daytime temperatures are generally in the high 20's Celsius and can peak in the mid 30's Celsius. Mountain elevations cause drops in night time temperatures which help to enhance the flavour development of the grapes.

geography, HISTORY WEATHER. geography. Each of these communities has a distinct personality and is ready to welcome you to beautiful british columbia.
    http://www.tourismdelta.bc.ca/geography.html
    Geography
Delta was one of the first areas settled along the Fraser River. The name "Delta" is derived from the fact that the community is located on fertile land at the delta of the Fraser River. Farming and fishing have been traditional economic activities and agriculture still accounts for more than half the land use designation in Delta. This green farmland and wetlands oasis is bounded by the Fraser River, the Strait of Georgia, the City of Surrey and the U.S. border at Boundary Bay.
Four distinct communities comprise Delta: Ladner, Tsawwassen, North Delta and Tsawwassen First Nations. Each of these communities has a distinct personality and is ready to welcome you to beautiful British Columbia.
Delta is the gateway to Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and to the U.S. town of Point Roberts. It is ideally situated, being crossed by Highway 91, 99, 10 and 17, allowing for easy access to the United States, Vancouver International Airport, the BC Ferries Terminal and Boundary Bay Airport. Delta has its own airport at Boundary Bay and is the site of the BC Ferries Terminal. Ladner Harbour provides morrage for 80 commercial fishing vessels. Delta Container Terminal, the Vancouver Port Authority's third biggest container terminal, is under expansion to increase capacity by 30 per cent. Throughput is forecasted to reach 850,000 twenty foot equivalents by 2007.
The entire area is a nature lover's delight with many scenic parks, beaches and a bird sanctuary. Outdoor enthusiasts can also frolic at Centennial Beach, walk or bike the dyke system, enjoy two regional parks or visit Burns Bog. The bog is the largest undeveloped urban land mass in North America and is home to many extraordinary rare plant and animal species. The municipality has played host to a variety of filming productions at the Boundary Bay Airport, in each of the residential communities and Ladner Village.
