British Columbia
British Columbia is Canada's westernmost province and one of North America's most mountainous regions. The variety of its landscapes is the main reason for British Columbia's distinctiveness. With an area of 944,735 kilometres, the province is bordered by the Pacific Ocean, the province of Alberta, the Yukon Territory and several U.S. states, including Alaska. Given its location, British Columbia is known as the gateway to the Pacific and Asia. Sometimes simply categorized as part of Canada's "West", the province is actually a distinct region, both geographically and culturally. The Aboriginal peoples of British Columbia developed one of the richest and most complex cultures north of Mexico. The coastal inhabitants were experts at wood sculpture and famous for their skill and courage in whaling. It was not until 1774 that the first Europeans, Spaniards, visited what is now British Columbia. The first permanent colony was established by the British in 1843. When gold was discovered in the lower Fraser Valley in 1857, thousands of people came in search of instant wealth. The promise of a rail link between the Pacific coast and the rest of the country convinced British Columbia to join the Confederation of Canada in 1871.

Northern Shadow Dancers Photo History
This web site is dedicated to the spirit of Aboriginal Entrepreneurship. For 11 years I have worked and watched this group perform through parts of Canada and Europe. Welcome. Our number one priority is providing a very unique and quality performance. Choreography and detailed powwow outfits accentuate each show. The Shadow Dancers are well adept at constructing workshops on dancing, design and crafts. Acquiring Performances The following are just brief descriptions of our most popular performances. The Loon A legend of a young boy turning into a warrior for the sake of his tribe. A sacred loon is the main stage for the story. A neighboring tribe kidnaps the loona nd war breaks out. Wolf's Cry The most popular performance we have to date. Wolf hunts man. Man hunts wolf. A circle of life is fulfilled through death and visions. A rebirth and celebration of all things. World Beat Healing the World through dreamcatchers and the jingle dress dancers. A fallen warrior is brought back to life by the guardians. A spectacle of color, speed and beauty. All dancers are showcased equally with an addition of an eagle or hoop dancer.

PR FIRM HILL AND KNOWLTON HIRED BY BC FISH FARMING INDUSTRY
"The fish farm industry has utterly failed to prove it is not a threat to BC's wild salmon and to the province's marine environment, so it has now resorted to hiring a multinational PR firm that specializes in representing totalitarian governments and corporate polluters. Hiring Hill and Knowlton speaks volumes about the real intentions of this industry and the lengths to which it will go to dupe the BC public," said Chris Genovali of Raincoast Conservation Society. "

Correlation Between the British Columbia Provincial Curriculum Documents Approach to L2 Teaching and the Fundamental Components Proposed by the NFCS and Formative Assessment Toolkits
1. Does the guide refer to the development of an integrated multidimensional curriculum and how are the four major components in teaching a L2 addressed?
There is no mention of the multi-dimensional curriculum as such, however, there are 4 curriculum organizers that are almost the same as the 4 components, being: communicating, acquiring information, experiencing creative works and understanding cultural influences.
The curriculum organizers should be integrated in the classroom through most activities.
Language -
(as a means of communication, examples of language functions, language within a context, student control of language learning)
The overriding aim of Core French is communication, which is important as French is one of our official languages. Therefore, the goal is to teach the practical use of the language as opposed to the analytical grammar of the language itself.
