Different body work therapies are integrated such as Swedish, Myofascial, Reiki and cranial sacral, depending on the client's needs. The first visit starts with a consultation and proceeds with a massage. Subsequent visits touch base with the client's condition and then proceeds with a massage making adjustments as necessary. Massage therapy is an adjunct to CCHL services. Body work helps cancer patients integrate body and mind. After or during a series of treatments of chemotherapy and/or radiation, etc., the body may need help relaxing. Massage provides an environment of acceptance in whatever state the client may be in. Each meeting with a client is confidential and sessions are held in the utmost privacy. Our massage therapists are graduates of the LifePath School of Massage Therapy located in Peoria, Illinois. They are trained in the Sloan-Kettering Model for cancer massage. They are members of the AMTA, American Massage Therapy Association and/or ABMP, Association of Body Work and Massage Professions. If the cancer patient is in treatment or just out of treatment, this is a free service provided by donations and gifts to the Cancer Center.
