More than 40 percent of over 700 annual patients are returned to the wild. Some 20 different species of raptors, which cannot be returned to the wild due to injuries, are used in our conservation education programs. Audubon Center for Birds of Prey is a non-profit organization and relies on visitor admissions, donations and adoptions to support its work. Through action-based education about the environment, citizens will be empowered to preserve what remains of natural Florida as well as saving the birds themselves, which has been Audubon's focus since its beginning in the 1900's. I finally decided that now was the time a few days ago as I was driving down Pacific Coast Highway near my home. Just for the record, this particular stretch of PCH is near Santa Monica, California where there are huge public beaches, the pier and lots of homes.
