Luminometer, luminescence, reporter gene assay. Applications include cell and molecular biology research, clinical diagnosis, and drug testing.
http://www.mgminstruments.com/
Our newest instrument, the Optocomp M microplate luminometer, measures sample luminescence using Dual Mode Detection. Dual Mode Detection is able to accurately measure luminescence across an unprecedented ten decades of dynamic range. Because sensitive photon counting and photocurrent measurement are used simultaneaously; Dual Mode Detection technology can detect extremely weak luminescent signals, yet also accurately measure intense luminescence of billions of photons per second! That is Gigacount Capability! MGM Instruments, Inc. is dedicated to providing reasonably priced, quality built, state of the art analytical laboratory instruments to scientists, researchers, clinicians and diagnostic companies. Our instruments are in use all over the world, in cell biology and molecular biology research, in clinical diagnostics, in drug discovery, and in quality control testing. Our Hamden, Connecticut based company has provided instrumentation to thousands of University laboratories, clinical laboratories and to research laboratories at some of the world's best known pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. For information on any of our instruments, select an instrument from the table at the bottom of the page.

Our faculty work together with students at all levels exploring aspects of living organisms ranging from the molecular to the ecosystem. We emphasize the process of science as well as the content of science in our teaching. Our areas of study include anatomy, animal biology, biotechnology, cell biology, ecology, environmental science, genetics, immunology, microbiology, pharmacognosy, physiology, plant biology and science teaching. The Department's study of biology includes opportunities for laboratory and field exploration. There are many fascinating habitats within 2 hours drive of the college such as; pine barrens, lakes, mountains and seashores. Faculty frequently schedule field trips and supervise extra-curricular student excursions. Most of the Department's full-time faculty are actively involved in research, engaging all interested undergraduate students.

The Institute of Molecular Biology fosters research and training in contemporary molecular biology by bringing together scientists from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics into a common intellectual and physical space. Because a broad range of expertise is focused on related problems, researchers with specialties ranging from genetics to biophysics directly benefit from each other's knowledge and abilities. Research is directed toward understanding basic cellular, genetic, and developmental mechanisms in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Primary research interests of institute members are summarized on the Faculty and Research page. Institute research laboratories are located in a contiguous space, which facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration. Institute of Molecular Biology

Digital biology was established in order to conduct research into, and develop technology based on, artificial life.
    http://www.digitalbiology.com/
Pushing the boundaries of scientific illustration... Bring your exhibits to life! By utilizing advances in the game technology industry, 3d graphics hardware, and artificial life research, Digital Biology has developed proprietary computer animation software for creating real-time, photo-realistic interactive simulations of biological phenomena that push the boundaries of scientific illustration. The end result is multimedia content that is both highly entertaining and educational These custom simulations are designed to run on affordable desktop computers without the need for expensive, specialized hardware, and can be optionally displayed on large, high resolution screens for a captivating viewer experience. These simulations can also be continuously updated and customized to reflect exhibitor needs, and they provide the ideal medium for visualizing hard-to-observe natural phenomena or difficult-to-explain biological concepts. They can even be used to 'bring to life' extinct fauna. Key features of these simulations include:
    • real-time interaction among organisms as well as between organisms and the viewer
