from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, 06269
e-mail: thomas.terry@uconn.edu Welcome, fellow teachers! This page includes links to some courses I've taught using the Web, as well as links to documents and other resources that may help you with your own design of Web materials. I invite you to borrow freely whatever you can use in your own teaching, and encourage you to make you own teaching materials public. I will keep my course materials available on the Web for one year from the time each course is completed.

Fundamentals of Microbiology (MCB 229), Summer 2002 (Completed Course Archive)
Following a sabbatic leave, I've totally reorganized website design, lectures and other materials to follow the organization of a new textbook. Many new graphics and links to replace those eroded by "linkrot" over the past year. I've begun to author in Macromedia Flash in order to provide better interactive multimedia for my students. Here are two projects:
  • Aerobic and anaerobic respiration (requires Flash plug-in) Phagocytosis and Bacterial Pathogens (requires Flash plug-in)

  • Fundamentals of Microbiology (MCB 229), Spring 2002

Summary: "As a service to [its] users, [the Museum of Paleontology (UCMP), located on the campus of the Unversity of California, Berkeley has] created this multi-volume, multimedia virtual glossary of biological terms used on [their] server... [These] terms and their definitions are important to practicing biologists and paleontologists in various fields... More topics will be added as the volumes are completed." For each entry within each broad subject area, an alphabetical list of terms is presented, along with a one of two sentence definition. In many cases, term used within a definition are themselves hotlinked to their respective definitions elsewhere in the glossary. To Search: Click to access the volumes of [the] glossary by the following general topics: phylogenetics, geology, biochemistry, cell biology, ecology, life history, zoology, and botany. The UCMP plans to make the glossary searchable in the near future.
