Science - Biology - General Science The science framework presented in this outline is what students should know, understand, and be able to do in the natural sciences. Students combine process and knowledge as they use scientific reasoning and critical thinking to develop their understanding of science. Inquiry builds conceptual bridges between process and scientific knowledge. Relevant use of developmentally appropriate technology facilitates the inquiry process.
The attainment of scientific literacy is the result of a sequential curriculum that is dependent on quality science teaching at each grade level beginning in prekindergarten. Quality science teaching requires direct, inquiry-oriented learning experiences that emphasize the processes of science and major science concepts. Consistent with national standards, fewer concepts in physical, life and earth/space sciences are explored while more emphasis is placed on in-depth understanding. The following standards provide a framework to achieve the above goals.
Earth and Space Science
Universe: Origin/Formulate/Theories
The learner will be able to formulate theories involving origins of the universe.

Joint faculty members (those with primary appointments in other departments) have their laboratories in nearby buildings or at the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason Research Center or the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC), which are proximate to the University. Trainees in immunology have access to the aggregate facilities of the Department of Immunology and the interdisciplinary resources of the basic science departments at the University of Washington. The Department of Immunology maintains a collection containing complete issues of the past ten years for the major immunological journals. The Health Sciences Library of the University of Washington, one of the most complete medical libraries in the world, is located less than 100 yards away. This library also provides online access to a number of journals. The Department of Immunology maintains subscriptions to key journals to which it provides online access to its faculty and trainees for those journals not available online through the health sciences library. This provides easy access for our students and post-doctoral trainees who favor the online format.

    Introduction
There is a vast amount of cancer related information on the Internet. This guide aims to make it easier to find specific research information by providing a catalogue of web sites / pages sorted by disease type, country, treatments, and other relevant topics. The Researcher's Menu on this page includes a "research speciality" option. This links to a sub-menu incorporating a spectrum of basic science, clinical, and epidemiological research topics. The menu also includes links to disease-specific pages, and country-specific pages; these pages include links of general interest as well as sections labelled "intended for health professionals" which may also contain material relevant to researchers.
