Unfortunately, people still use her story to impose these same trials on women today. Her bravery, courage and leadership skills have been twisted or even negated to imposes ungodly restrictions on Godly women. Let's look at exactly what the Bible says about Abigail, and notice some of the things it doesn't say. 1 Samuel 25:1-3:
There was a man in Maon, whose property was in Carmel. The man was very rich; he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. He was shearing his sheep in Carmel. Now the name of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail. The woman was clever and beautiful, but the man was surly and mean; he was a Calebite. The Bible introduces us to Abigail and her husband. Hebrew readers have a clue to this story in the first section that English readers lack (unless we read footnotes). Nabal sounds very like the the Hebrew word "fool". Word plays occur repeatedly in the Bible, this particular word play works much like the name "pilgrim" in

(Updated 05/29/04) Introduction and Purpose Thank you for hitting on my personal web page, and please keep reading to understand the purpose of this web site. First of all, I want to introduce myself. My name is Mahlon, and my "spiritual" background and church affiliation was with the World Wide Church of God in the early 1970's. I was a part of this Church for six years, and then departed because of doctrinal reasons. However I did not depart from God and the Bible, and over the years I became aware of certain biblical truths that simply are not taught in the modern churches. Most of my life I have always had a profound interest in the Bible, and I know without a doubt that the Bible has all the answers to life and the various problems that face mankind. It is my conviction and belief that the Bible indeed has "all the words of this life"

I believe the evidence is absolutely clear in that the so-called Temple Mount (The Haram) was never the site of Solomon’s or Herod’s Temple and even the walls surrounding that site were not even of Herod’s time. There is really no need for Muslims and Jews to fight over this area. Let the Jewish People build the Third Temple in its rightful place, over the Gihon Spring and then let the world come to Jerusalem to affirm their faith. Catholics to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Muslims to the Al Aqsa Mosque and Jews to their Temple. All within a mile radius and all at peace.

    113. Biblical Personalities: David
A contemporary Jewish look at the king and national poet of Israel.
    http://www.emanuelnyc.org/bulletin/archive/83.html
    Biblical Personalities: David
Said David before the Holy One, Blessed is He: “Master of the Universe, despise not my prayer, for Israel’s eyes are raised to me in hope, and my eyes are raised to you in hope. If You hear my prayer, it is as if You heard theirs” (Shocher Tov 25:5). Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth-lehemite, that is skillful in playing, and a mighty man of valour, and a man of war, and prudent in affairs, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him” (I Samuel 16:18). “Skillful in playing” - in understanding Scripture; “a mighty man of valor” - in Mishnah; “a man of war” - who knows how to give and take in the battle of Torah discussion; “prudent in affairs” - in good deeds; “a comely person” - in Talmud (Ruth Rabbah 4:3). He is almost always viewed as Israel’s hero, despite his frailties, and notwithstanding his immoral and unforgivable disposal of Uriah the Hittite. Remembrance of David will always be associated with the slaying of the inimical Goliath and as the concomitant inspiration of Saul’s armies. His love of Jonathan, perfectly reciprocated, is also his legacy, although one must be careful not to read the ultraliberal mores of the late twentieth century into the biblical world. His love of women, particularly his attraction to Bath-sheba, which both ruined and resurrected the king, reveals the unbridled, instinctive nature of a man who placed his passions even above the law.

Contagion then spreads throughout the population, infecting an ever-increasing number of people. Treatments are illusive and uncertain because of the logistics involved with triage, quarantines, and limited vaccine supplies. For example, under suitable weather conditions, cruise missiles could deliver anthrax with a casualty rate comparable to that of the lethal fallout from a ground-burst nuclear weapon. In a 1993 study by the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, aircraft dissemination of 100 kg of anthrax as an aerosol cloud over Washington D.C. on a clear and calm night would result in 1-3 million deaths (this is 300 times the fatalities from a similar release of 10 times the amount of sarin gas)!

    120. A Biblical Look At The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit
The major doctrine the Pentecostals and Charismatics do not understand is the dispensational truth that we are not in the Old Testament times, but live in a different dispensation.

    Charismatic and Pentecostal Page
A BIBLICAL LOOK AT THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE FILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT by Cooper Abrams
Many Christian groups today are teaching the false doctrine that after a believer has been saved they then have a later experience in which they receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Don Basham, a leading Charismatic writer, says this ". . .experience is a second encounter with God (the first is conversion) in which the Christian begins to receive the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit into his life." The Charismatics and Pentecostals falsely teach that this experience usually comes when one prays for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is a very emotional experience in which the person "feels" the presence of the Holy Spirit. Basham describes the experience as follows. "His (the Holy Spirit) presence may come as a warmth enveloping you, or as a silent powerful Presence enfolding you. You may experience a tingling sensation or a gentle vibration as if touched by an electric current. But even if you feel nothing, rest quietly in the confidence that the Holy Spirit is now coming upon you in power and is about to furnish you with a new language of prayer and praise to God." After having the experience they then are empowered by the Holy Spirit. Basham states, "The average Christian, although truly professing Christ, operates largely on his own power, making his own decisions, living by his own strength, and controlling his own life. But through the baptism of the Holy Spirit the Christian steps out of this natural realm into a realm where he can begin to experience the supernatural gifts and powers of God's Holy Spirit."
