QUESTION ANSWER Are the Biblical Tales of the Old Testament largely true accounts of Human History? The Old Testament is based in part on older texts, which have been found in the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran. Old Testament texts have forbears in Sumerian, Akkadian and Pharaonic sources and materials. Is the Bible the Word of God? It depends on how you look at it. Everything in the Universe is ultimately God´s creation, so also the "Word" of God in the Bible. Did God create us in his / her / its image?

I. INTRODUCTION
A recent article on biblical genealogies by a scholar who has devoted a doctoral dissertation to the subject of Old Testament genealogies and its ancient Near Eastern setting (Wilson 1977) has stated at the outset: Both general readers and modern scholars have traditionally neglected biblical genealogies. Most readers have seen the genealogies as unwelcome interruptions in the flow of the biblical narrative, while many scholars have regarded the genealogies as deserts which can be crossed only with great difficulty and which in the end yield little that is interesting or worthwhile (Wilson 1979, p. 11).

I suppose that nobody will deny that it is a great misfortune if an entire branch of science becomes addicted to a false theory. But this is what has happened in biology…. Zereda, the home town of Jeroboam should be located close to Pirathon, ca. 15 miles southwest of Shechem at Zaretan. The Greek City of Sepphoris ( Zippori or Diocaesarea ) commanded an impressive position described by Josephus in `The Jewish War' , Bk. 34, Sec. 3 and in the Babylonian Talmud Megillah 6a. About 5 km (3.1 miles) southwest was Nazareth, a mere village by comparison. Zippori was 289 m above Sea level while Nazareth was 345 m in elevation. Zippori was built in the 1st century BC according to Greek city planning with a theater and was the capital of Lower Galilee [Josephus, `Antiquities' , Bk. 14, Sec. 91; `Wars' , Bk. 1, Sec. 170] . Herod apparently fortified the city and constructed there a royal palace ( basileios ). Varus, the legate of Syria, destroyed the city following the attack on the palace by Judas, son of Ezekias, after Herod's death in 4 BC.

    TAPHONOMY:
A TOOL FOR STUDYING EARTH'S BIBLICAL HISTORY Bernard E. Northrup Th.D. Email: northrup@awwwsome.com First presented at the Seattle Creation Conference, 1985
(Revised, expanded, but still in rough draft, 1/97) ABSTRACT DEFINING TAPHONOMY THE VALUE TO CREATIONISTS OF STUDYING TAPHONOMY I am fascinated by the open door which the study of taphonomy provides for me to step back through its doorway into some of the obscure but all important events which shaped and modified earth's early centuries and the life-forms which were placed on it by the Creator. I am fascinated because I find that through this obscure door and its largely ignored avenue, I have yet another very informative way to walk with some of earth's creatures from the day of their creation or birth through the events leading to their fossilization. It should not be expected that those who reject the Eternal will read their testimony with understanding. Neither can it be expected that those who actually are His children but who have elevated natural revelation (which the misread after the manner of their mentors) to understand. The fossils bring a lithified testimony concerning their Creator and concerning His activities in earth's history. Their silent but valuable voice and testimony must be included as a vital part of the great twofold testimony concerning the glory of God which is described in the introduction of Psalm 19. "The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament [the expanse of the atmosphere and all that lives or has lived in it] displays His handiwork."
