Even the guy at the gas station knows how well Theresa Statuti did in her first full-time college semester in 30 years. At home over the winter holiday break, not knowing when she'd get a report in the mail, she kept checking Camden County College's computer system until all of her grades popped up one morning. "Four As!" she beamed. "I printed it out and took it with me everywhere. I was high-fiving everyone !" The three-hour-a-day study regimen she'd followed throughout the fall paid huge academic rewards, and she was as composed during her final exams as she had expected to be. Her first, in Human Biology, was taken at home on the computer, but the rest were old-fashioned classroom marathons. "Medical Reimbursement was 50 questions, and we had two hours," she says. "I surprised myself because I got it done in 25 minutes. Medical Terminology was tough, though. It just went on forever. "For Medical Coding I, I took the full two hours to do the exam. 'Patient presents with chest pain and bleeding ulcer. Diagnosis is XYZ. How would you code this?' I was very careful and checked my answers in the thick coding book. The instructor told me I got a 90."
