The party's environmental spokeswoman said that the government had stopped putting pressure on the Czech side ever since an agreement was signed between the two countries last December, when the Czech side agreed to an environmental impact study. Austrian government wants say on Temelin [29-06-2000] By Lucie Krupickova The Austrian government says it must be involved in the final discussions on the launch of the Temelin nuclear power plant in South Bohemia. The Austrian Minister of Agriculture and Environment Wolfgang Molterer says Temelin mustn't be started up until all the problems concerning security and protection of the environment have been resolved. Earlier today Radio Prague´s Lucie Krupickova spoke to David Zelinger, from the on-line news department of Austria 's TV and radio network ORF. Mr. Zelinger believes the main problem for the Austrians is not the issue of last-minute security improvements, but nuclear power itself :

The 1945 Election and Consolidation of the Austrian Government
The first national election since 1930 was held on November 25, 1945. Nazi Party members were barred from participation. This exclusion sharply limited electoral participation by the nationalist camp, and no party was formed to represent its viewpoint. The ÖVP was thus able to monopolize the entire antileft vote. Voters gave overwhelming support to the two democratic parties: the ÖVP received nearly 50 percent of the vote and eighty-five seats in the Nationalrat, and the SPÖ received 45 percent of the vote and seventy-six seats. The KPÖ received only 5 percentwell below its anticipated 25 percentand four seats. Although the ÖVP thus held an absolute majority in parliament, the government, headed by Chancellor Leopold Figl of the ÖVP, preserved the three-party coalition. The distribution of cabinet seats was adjusted, however, with the KPÖ receiving only a specially created and unimportant Ministry for Electrification. In December parliament elected Renner to the largely ceremonial position of president of the republic. With the Austrian government clearly evolving along democratic lines, the Western Allies grew more supportive, and the Soviet Union grew increasingly hostile. Austrian Government approves e-government bill eGovernment News – 29 October 2003 – Austria – Legal aspects The Austrian Council of Ministers approved on 28/10/2003 an e-government bill designed to provide a clear and solid legal basis for the country’s e-government programme and initiatives. The bill, prepared by the Chancellery and its Chief Information Office in coordination with regional and local authorities as well as other administrative bodies, had first been presented last July and submitted to public consultation. The bill is intended to cover all electronic communications, procedures and proceedings with all layers of government. A substantial part of the text covers the legal and technical aspects of back office processes and infrastructure re-organisation for electronic data flow, as well as the issue of electronic identification for e-government services. Among other things, the proposed bill sets the legal basis for the use of the electronic ID card (called “Citizen Card” – Bürgerkarte – in Austria). The use of bank cards and of Citizen Card functions embedded in mobile phones is also foreseen.

Austria - The 1945 Election And Consolidation Of The Austrian Government
The Soviet Union only realized the implications of the new Control Agreement when a dispute arose over German assets in Austria. In early July 1946, the Soviet Union confiscated German assets in its occupation zone as war reparationsmines, industrial facilities, agricultural land, and the entire Austrian oil production industry. To protect the Austrian economy from such Soviet seizures, the Austrian government nationalized German assets. The Soviet Union attempted to veto the nationalization law but was rebuffed by the other Allies, who made it clear that the Austrian government had wide latitude in determining whether a particular law was a constitutional law or not. Although the Soviet Union was able to prevent implementation of the nationalization law in its occupation zone, the 1946 Control Agreement significantly enhanced the power of the Austrian government. By 1953 more than 550 laws had been implemented over the objection of the Soviet Union. Data as of December 1993

Austrian Government Deploys Zope, CMF in Portal to Public Services
Yesterday the Austria-portal oesterreich.at was put into operation. It not only acts as a directory for all Internet-services offered by the Austrian government, but also as a Content Management System for the agencies and institutions submitting documents, images, news and links for publication on the site. The Viennese software-company Uptime developed the entire site in only 3 months, building on the web-environment Zope and the Zope-powered Content Management Framework CMF. "This is a complex web-site." says Nikolaus Kimla, Uptime's CEO, "We hope, this high-profile project will give Zope and the CMF credibility and helps to extend their user-base in the industry."

The criteria for offset agreements in connection with the procurement of new interceptor aircraft are clearly defined in the Request for Proposals of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labour in Austria: “... 2. Basic goals
     Technology transfer
 Investments furthering education and job qualification
 Establishment of businesses and direct investments in Austria
 Safeguarding and improving the employment situation
     Regional distribution
 Strong and lasting supply relationships
 Opening up of new markets for existing companies and products
 Consideration of the predominance in the Austrian economic structure of small and middle-sized businesses...” The Gripen Team fully meets these requirements. The following list includes ten examples from more than 110 projects in our Industrial Cooperation Program to prove this: Project:
    Information and Communications Technology
Partner: Frequentis Nachrichtentechnik GmbH Description: As the result of very intense cooperation with AerotechTelub, a company of the Saab Group, the Austrian high-tech company Frequentis Nachrichtentechnik GmbH was able to obtain orders to supply voice communication systems (VCS) to the Link¶ping (Sweden) airport. This contract opens up numerous other possibilities for the showpiece Austrian company Frequentis – the worldwide market leader in the critical security area of communications and information systems – to provide equipment for other airports. On 17 January 2002, in addition to the contract with Link¶ping, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was also signed between Frequentis and AerotechTelub. Within the framework of this cooperation, in the future AerotechTelub will not only serve as the supplier, but will also support the marketing of Frequentis airport products in Sweden and other Gripen markets.
