Books are a large part of my life. I've got them lining the walls, piled up next to the bed, on tables, chairs and on just about every flat surface, and I still don't know what to say to the people who come to my house and ask, "so, have you read them all?"
Australian Authors
If you're an author from the USA (or possibly the UK) writing sf, horror or fantasy then you are well-covered on the Web. If you are Australian and writing what might loosely be termed serious modern fiction then you might as well not exist. Hence, the listing of various authors below. It'll take a while for this list to come together properly so bear with me. But check it out from time to time to see if anything new has cropped up. As an added note, the names of authors listed here but which do not host a link to other pages are listed with the intention of setting up individual pages for them at some time in the future. I just don't know when.
Australian history is almost always picturesque; indeed, it is also so curious and strange, that it is itself the chiefest novelty the country has to offer and so it pushes the other novelties into second and third place. It does not read like history, but like the most beautiful lies; and all of a fresh new sort, no mouldy old stale ones. It is full of surprises and adventures, the incongruities, and contradictions, and incredibilities; but they are all true, they all happened.

We have a close association with the national body for australian literature, the Association for the Study of australian literature (ASAL).
http://www.une.edu.au/calls/
About CALLS The Centre for Australian Language and Literature Studies (CALLS) was established in 1989 to promote the research and teaching of Australian Language and Literature, and to encourage Australian writing. In 1998, it was expanded to encompass all the disciplines that come under the heading of Australian Studies, and its name changed to CALLS: The Centre for Australian Studies, UNE. The Centre is located in the Faculty of Arts at the University of New England. The focus of the Centre's activities is regional, national and international. Two regional conferences and a symposium have been held so far - at Kendall High School (1989) to celebrate the work of Henry Kendall, and at Gulgong (1991) to concentrate attention on the writings of Louisa and Henry Lawson. Important publications have resulted from these two conferences. A symposium, The Heritage Maze, was held in 1999, and another is planned for later this year. These symposia reflect the expanded CALLS, and the range of disciplines involved in Australian Studies.

The Bibliography of Australian Literature covers book publications by eligible authors of creative writing whose surnames begin with the letters A-E. Further work on authors whose names fall outside this scope continues within AustLit. History
The Bibliography of Australian Literature: A-E,
which was published in September 2001 as an 800 page book, is the result of over a decade of collaborative research into the publication history of creative writing by Australian authors. Its publication marks the turning point from the tradition of paper-based bibliographies towards the new technology of Internet Gateways such as AustLit. Beginning in 1990, the Bibliography project had the ambitiously broad and deceptively simple goal of listing all separately published works of creative literature by Australian authors since 1788. Australian literature
The celebrated history of Australian literature began with the oral stories brought by convicts in the late eighteenth century. As the new colony developed, so did the culture of recording stories inspired by the new experiences and different landscapes of this continent, so that by the start of the twentieth century the tradition of uniquely Australian storytelling was well established.
