Business Achievement Awards Previous Awards ... 2002 Awards Sponsors 2002 Award Sponsor - Australian Industry Group Progressive attitudes pay dividends The Australian Industry Group has worked hard for many years to overcome outdated attitudes to women in the workplace. “The crucial thing is for employers to find the right people for the right job, regardless of who they are,” Ai Group Chief Executive Bob Herbert says. “It is a simple message – progressive attitudes lead to a stable, committed workforce with all the benefits which flow from that.” The Ai Group was the first major sponsor of the EOWA awards, believing they can do much to encourage and support women’s advance in the workforce. Mr Herbert will present an award for the leading CEO for the advancement of women while Heather Ridout, the Ai Group’s deputy chief executive was a member of the judging panel. “We have always argued that equality in the workplace makes good business sense,” Mr Herbert says. “That has been the focus of the many successful workshops we have run, in conjunction with EOWA, to help our member companies comply with the requirements of new equal opportunities legislation across Australia.

CRCs save Australian industry millions
- Call to increase Government investment in CRCs
The research done by Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs) across Australia is saving our industries millions of dollars and making them more competitive. CRCs operating in all industries - from aeronautics to food packaging through to the racing industry - are producing new technologies and innovations to save money. Savings are gained through innovations that result in faster more efficient production techniques, reduced damage to transported products, and decreased problems like disease affecting agricultural production or breakdown of manufacturing equipment. "Australia is more likely to reach its innovation targets and move forward into a "new knowledge-based economy" if it increases its funding for the CRC Program, as recommended recently by the Government's Chief Scientist," he said. The Federal Government has invested $1.5 billion in the CRC Program in the 15 years from 1991. Another $4 billion has been invested from industry, other government agencies, and research and educational organisations.

Federal Member for Murray 29 May 2001
Australian Industry's Environmental 'Bible' launched in Sydney
Good business is green business and Australian industry are increasingly embracing better environmental practices in an effort to protect our natural resources and gain an edge in the marketplace, according to Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Dr Sharman Stone. Launching the second edition of the Australian Industry Group's Environmental Management Implementation Handbook in Sydney yesterday, Dr Stone highlighted the importance of a strong partnership between the Federal Government and Australian Industry on environmental issues. "Savvy manufacturers and producers now see improved environmental performance as a means to boost their advantage in the marketplace. No longer is it simply a case of being green to comply with legislation. The community are responding to the green status of products and services that they buy", Sharman Stone said. "The bottom line is being replaced with the 'triple bottom line' for business - looking at the economic, social and environmental advantages".

Welcome to the Australian dairy industry's web site. The Australian dairy industry is Australia's largest processed food industry, and ranks in the top four of the nation's rural industries. Our climate and natural resources allow production based on year-round pasture grazing. Australia has over two million dairy cows, producing around 10 billion litres of milk each year. Our country is one of the world's leading exporters of dairy products, exporting over $3 billion worth of milk and related products annually. About half of all Australia's milk is exported in some form, be it cheese, milk powder, butter, or lesser known products like casein or whey powder.
