Spring came into the finals leading the vault competition after scoring a 9.700 in Wednesday's prelims; however, he could not repeat that performance Friday night. His gold medal hopes disappeared when he sat down on his vault to earn a 9.050 and fall to 11th overall on the event. Also gone, were Spring's hopes of advancing to the Olympic Trials, which take place June 24-27 in Anaheim, Cal.
