Women's Tennis Earns Highest Team Ranking Since 1989
Ponies finish year ranked 43rd in the nation
- The SMU women's tennis team has achieved its highest final ranking since 1989, finishing the 2003-04 season ranked No. 43 in the nation. The final ITA rankings were released June 4. The No. 43 ranking is SMU's highest final ranking since finishing the 1989 season ranked No. 22 in the land. The Ponies enjoyed a successful 2003-04 season that saw the team earn its first NCAA tournament bid since 1996, while advancing to the round of 32 for the first time since since the 1988 campaign. ...more

Men's Tennis Finishes 34th In Final ITA Rankings
The SMU men's tennis team finished the 2003-04 season ranked No. 34 in the nation in the final ITA rankings. The rankings were released on June 4. SMU, who finished the season 18-12, advanced to the NCAA round of 32 for the first time in three years defeating Georgia Tech, 4-0, in the first round before falling to the eventual NCAA champion Baylor in the round of 32. The No. 34 ranking marks the sixth time in the past seven years SMU has finished in the top 35 in the nation. ...more

    Men's Hockey Releases 2004-05 Schedule
    STORRS, CT (May 28) - The University of Connecticut men’s hockey team and head coach Bruce Marshall have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2004-05 season. Play will begin for the team during the second week of October, and will culminate in the Atlantic Hockey Association Championship in the middle of March. The season will begin for UConn at the Maverick Stampede hosted by the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Rensselaer will face Merrimack in the first game of the tournament on October 9, while UConn takes on the host school in game two. The second day will feature the consolation and championship contests. The remainder of the October schedule pits UConn against Concordia in a home exhibition on October 15, and the Huskies will then be on the road to face Rensselaer, UMass-Amherst and Dartmouth. continues Pictured: Members of the 2003-04 UConn Men's Hockey Team No live events scheduled today.

    HARRISONBURG, Va., June 4, 2004 James Madison University lacrosse players Gail Decker (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy), Jessica Beard (Davidsonville, Md./South River) and Kari Pabis (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug) have been invited to participate in the North-South Senior All-Star Game, scheduled for Saturday (June 5) in Baltimore. The three will represent JMU on the South team. Decker is a midfielder and Beard and Pabis are defenders.

    Wisconsin Lightweights Win First National Championship
    Camden, N.J. - The Wisconsin women’s lightweight rowing team breezed by the competition as the Badgers captured the 2004 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship today on the Cooper River. Despite cool temperatures and overcast skies, the No. 2 Badgers won the championship by almost 12 seconds, the largest margin of victory by a lightweight team ever at the IRAs.

    Frogs Season Comes To An End, Fall To ORU 10-1

    The 2004 baseball season came to a close for the TCU Horned Frogs as the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles shut down the Frogs offense in an elimination game on Saturday night. Ramon Moses picked up two of the Frogs three hits in his final game in a Frog uniform. Clayton Jerome pitched six innings in his final start, giving up four runs, three earned.     Frogs Set School Record For Wins In A Season, Stay Alive in Regionals
    The Horned Frogs stayed alive in the 2004 NCAA Regionals as they came back to defeat the Youngstown State Penguins, 12-8 at Disch-Falk Field in Austin. The win was their 39th of the season, setting a new mark in TCU's record book. The old record of 38 wins was set in 1994. Chris Neuman was 3-for-5 at the plate and drove in the winning runs with a home run in the sixth inning as the Frogs put up six runs to come back from a 7-3 deficit.
