    NCAA Baseball Regionals June 4 - 6, 2004 TOP STORY Baseball Vanderbilt Records 7-3 Victory Over Virginia In Game 6 To Win Charlottesville Regional Vanderbilt overcame an error-filled first inning and regained its composure to record a 7-3 victory over top-seeded Virginia in a decisive Game 6 contest in the Charlottesville Regional at Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium. Both teams traded three-run sides in the first inning before the Commodores posted four runs in the final eight innings to claim a four-run victory to win the Regional.     Frogs Season Comes To An End, Fall To ORU 10-1

    The 2004 baseball season came to a close for the TCU Horned Frogs as the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles shut down the Frogs offense in an elimination game on Saturday night. Ramon Moses picked up two of the Frogs three hits in his final game in a Frog uniform. Clayton Jerome pitched six innings in his final start, giving up four runs, three earned.     Frogs Set School Record For Wins In A Season, Stay Alive in Regionals
    The Horned Frogs stayed alive in the 2004 NCAA Regionals as they came back to defeat the Youngstown State Penguins, 12-8 at Disch-Falk Field in Austin. The win was their 39th of the season, setting a new mark in TCU's record book. The old record of 38 wins was set in 1994. Chris Neuman was 3-for-5 at the plate and drove in the winning runs with a home run in the sixth inning as the Frogs put up six runs to come back from a 7-3 deficit. Each Lobo moved up higher on the list from their previous national ranking given to them at the end of the regular season. [more] M Golf Lobos Finish Season at NCAA Championships The University of New Mexico men's golf team finished their season today with the third round of the NCAA Championships. The Lobos finished the day in 19th place and just missed the third round cut. UNM shot a 14-over par, 294 in the third round and finished at 36-over par (291-291-294=876) on the par-70, 6,679 yard Cascades Golf Course at The Homestead Resort. The 15 team cutline was set at 31-over par, leaving the Lobos just five strokes short. The overall team lead is held by UCLA who shot a tournament low 5-under par 275 in the third round and are now 7-over par (289-283-275=847) for the tournament.     Tiger Athletics Makes Administrative Changes

    University of Memphis Athletic Director R.C. Johnson announced today the hiring of Memphis native Bill Lansden as the Associate Athletic Director for Development; and promoted Bob Winn to Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs.
    "I am very pleased that Bill Lansden has accepted our position as Associate Athletic Director for Development," said Johnson. "He spent a number of years working in both marketing and fundraising at the University of Memphis before leaving to become the Marketing Director for the FedEx St. Jude Classic and later the Associate Athletic Director at Middle Tennessee.
    "Bill brings a wealth of knowledge about the university and the city of Memphis and I am sure all of our Tiger fans and supporters will welcome him back to the Tiger family," added Johnson.
    Lansden returns to Memphis after spending the last two years in a similar capacity at Middle Tennessee. In his short time at Middle Tennessee, Lansden has engineered a 40 percent increase in the Blue Raider Athletic Association membership to 1,750 in June of 2003 and is expected to see it top the 2,000 mark in July of 2004. Annual giving in the BRAA is also at an all-time high and the membership in Nashville has increased by 300 percent over the past year. (more)

    The Princeton baseball team fell 9-0 to Virginia Sunday afternoon in the 2004 NCAA Baseball Tournament. After topping the Cavaliers in the first game of the Regional, the Tigers dropped successive games to Vanderbilt and Virginia to be eliminated from the tournament.     Select Sport Football Basketball Baseball Cross Country Golf Tennis Hogs Advance To Super Regional With 4-3 Win Over Wichita State; Hogs Play Seminoles Next Weekend In Fayetteville Fayetteville, Ark. – Needing two wins over Wichita State to keep their season alive and advance to a Super Regional, the Arkansas Razorbacks came through when it counted as the Hogs posted a pair of wins over the Shockers and will now face the Florida State Seminoles next weekend for the right to go to the College World Series.
    Game dates and times for the Arkansas-Florida State Super Regional will be announced Monday at 10 p.m. on SportsCenter on ESPN. The games will be played in Fayetteville at Baum Stadium.
    “We’ve got a bunch of gritty guys who want to play and will do whatever it takes to win,” Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn said. “We just did whatever we could to win, we gutted it out for three days.”
    Fans can purchase tickets beginning at midnight Monday morning by going to www.hogwired.com. Tickets will go on sale at the Razorback ticket office Monday at 8:30 a.m.
