4. Northeastern Athletics General Information
Northeastern Athletics Specific policies and guidelines relating to academic eligibilityfor athletics are distributed in writing to all studentathletes.
http://www.gonu.com/general.html
Northeastern University is an integral part of the New England sports community, fielding 19 varsity teams in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I sports as well as other teams and individuals in national and international arenas. The university's teams, nicknamed the Huskies, are also some of the region's most successful. NU plays host to some of the biggest collegiate events. Northeastern hosted the NCAA field hockey championship at Parsons Field in 1994 and 1999. Northeastern, along with Harvard, will host the 2006 NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four at the FleetCenter in Boston. The 2001 Women's Hockey National Championship semifinals and finals were played at Matthews Arena. NU and Matthews Arena hosted the 2002 America East Men's Basketball Championship and then co-hosted the 2003 event with Boston University at Walter Brown Arena. Northeastern teams compete as part of the America East Conference, with some exceptions: Football plays in the tough Atlantic 10 Conference, while the men's and women's hockey teams compete in Hockey East, the nation's premier league. There's little question that Northeastern's conferences are also making great strides. In the 1998-99 season, the Atlantic 10 had the I-AA football champion (Massachusetts), Hockey East member Maine won the national title, and America East sent five of its members to NCAA postseason play in basketball. In 2000-01 Boston College, a member of Hockey East, won the NCAA men's hockey national title. In women's hockey, the Huskies formerly played in the ECAC, which provided three of the final four teams both in 1998 and '99 and two of the teams in 2000 and '01. The 2002-03 season brought the inaugural year of women's Hockey East play.

I feel the Middle School is amazing! My son is learning and growing and his self-esteem has increased immeasurably. Each and every teacher takes time to help him individually. Yes, a 6th grade boy loves going to school.
Athletics General Info. Athletic participation is encouraged for students beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through Upper School. Our all-Riverfield teams compete in various public leagues throughout the community. Each player receives playing time in games and the opportunity to develop skills through well-organized practices after school. Coaches consist of parent volunteers as well as Riverfield staff members. Clinics are provided for coaches prior to each season to develop new coaching skills as well as idea sharing from experienced coaching staff members. Middle School and Upper School athletes have practices during the final period of the school day and may extend for one period after school. During this time, teams are coached by staff members, volunteer coaches and the Athletic Director. Riverfield offers a variety of sports to meet the needs of the student body. Each fall outdoor soccer and cross-country are offered, followed by basketball in the winter. In the spring, the sports are baseball and softball and a recreational golf is being introduced in hopes of developing a future Riverfield golf team. Middle and Upper School students have an opportunity to play indoor soccer during off-season times.

I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate all you have done for my daughter. This is the first time since fourth grade that she has said she loves school. You have accomplished a miracle. Thanks to you and the rest of the teachers we are facing her freshman year with happiness instead of dread.
