Chris Long
Sports Anchor
chrisl@kdlh.com

CHRIS LONG has been a Sports Anchor and Sports Reporter at KDLH since April 1997. In his long tenure at KDLH he’s become the in-house expert on Minnesota’s #1 sports passion, high school hockey. That’s in addition to hitting the street to cover other high school, college, pro and recreational sports. Chris has watched, in-person, over 1,500 local sporting events since his arrival in Duluth.
His greatest experiences here in the Northland include being on the field for the Duluth-Superior Dukes Northern League Championship, sweating out two Vikings NFC Championship games, each and every State High School Hockey Tournament, and being a part of the most unique sporting event in our area… the Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon every winter.
Chris' love for the business of journalism goes all the way back to his childhood. He was one of the final candidates cut in auditions to host a kids news program on the Washington DC Fox network station WTTG.
Before coming to KDLH, Chris was a weekend sportscaster at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. He worked as an intern and Weekend Sports Producer at KGTV in San Diego, and as a freelance producer for ESPN’s award-winning ‘Outside The Lines’ program.. He has done additional work in both radio and print journalism, including his job hosting the popular "Perkins PortSports" local sports talk show, as well as serving as the college hockey editor for the now defunct "Hockey Insider" website.
