The General Catalogue of Photometric Data (GCPD) The Institute of Astronomy of the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) has been deeply involved in the collection of photometric data since 1970 and is one of the Institutes collaborating with the Strasbourg Data Center (CDS)
We have developed a large database containing photoelectric photometric data in many systems. We now provide a large WWW access to the data collections and references from The General Catalogue of Photometric Data (GCPD).
The Database for Stars in Open Clusters (WEBDA)
Open clusters are one of the main research fields of the Institute and we have also developed a specialized collection of data called The Database for Stars in Open Cluster (WEBDA) A large access to data, maps, bibliography and archive data is provided throgh lists or forms. Each open cluster has its own page, from which the existing data may be retrieved.

    • My " What's Up Now ? " section is aimed at quickly letting me know whether tonight will be a good deep-sky observing night and preparing for an observing session.
      • At the right edge is this moment's moon, provided by U.S. Naval Observatory . If the moon is too big, it probably won't be a good observing night for me because the moon's brightness will wash out the sky. For more general planning purposes, see:
      • Of course, clear skies are required for observing, so I also usually check out the weather before I pack the van to go observing.
      • If it turns out to be a good potential observing night, I might want to gather a few things together before I leave. One of these is my list of deep-sky objects I want to observe, and most of the rest of my pages are devoted to deep-sky observing. Other things I might wish to gather before I leave are:

General Information The NMSU Astronomy Department is a cutting-edge research and education oriented department at New Mexico State University , located in Las Cruces , New Mexico. We recently became a member of AURA . Our members include 11 faculty, 6 postdoctoral fellows, and 21 graduate students. We are a member of the Astrophysical Research Consortium, which operates a world-class 3.5 meter telescope at Apache Point Observatory (APO) in nearby Sunspot. We also maintain a few of our own observatories , including a 1.0 meter telescope at APO, a 61" telescope on nearby Tortugas Mountain and a 16" telescope here on the NMSU campus, used for both education and research. The department is an active member of the community and sponsors numerous public events in the local area, including monthly Open Houses at the NMSU campus observatory. The Astronomy Building is located just north of Stewart St. at the intersection of Williams St. and the Frenger Mall, across from the Food Court and the Branson Library. Take a look at a rough map showing location of our department (labelled as a blue box).

Brief Explanation of the Project Seal and Martin's A bibliography of astronomy, 1970-1979  is the last known major undertaking of this kind. These Core Lists of books in astronomy are intended to assist librarians and collection development librarians in building astrophysics collections. Our list also attempts to serve as a resource for researchers and as a guide to teaching faculty in selecting available course readings. The focus of the list is comprised of seven major categories: Abstracts and Indexes, Atlases and Catalogs, Bibliographies, Directories and Encyclopedias, Handbooks and Yearbooks, Texts and Textbooks. Each category consists of several book titles, and in some instances we have provided internet links to non-profit sites. This year we have removed books that were listed as out-of-print; however, Liz Bryson will maintain a separate list that you may request from her via email.  We plan on updating this list every two years and ask that any feedback or comments be submitted on the attached
