I recently received at work a pamphlet entitled "Is the Virgin Mary Dead or Alive?" from a Seventh Day Adventist. She also told me that we Catholics do not read the Bible. Should I have read her pamphlet? I just threw it away and told her that Catholics belong to the one true Church. You did the right thing. The pamphlet you refer to is not only polemical but also anti-Catholic. Some Seventh Day Adventist people are friendly, but the literature produced by their Church is often hatefully anti-Catholic. It seems they indoctrinate many of their members with such attitudes. The Seventh Day Adventist Religion is a type of Protestant, man-made construction, only founded in the last century in the United States. It is a result of misinterpreting the Bible and of their trying in vain to calculate exactly the time of the Second Coming of Christ. Many Seventh Day Adventists regard the trances, visions and writings of their "Prophetess," Ellen White, as equal to the Bible. Reprinted November 19, 1999

Assemblies of God honor 9 missionaries
"That None Should Perish" was the theme for the Knoxville Section Missions Convention that ended Saturday night, honoring nine missionaries with a banquet at Christian Outreach Assemblies of God. Archer Corder, pastor of Christian Outreach Assembly of God, 535 Oak Ridge Turnpike, is the Knoxville Section Missions director of the Assemblies of God. Theme for the convention was based on 1 Peter 3:9. "(He) is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." On Sunday the missionaries went to area churches to tell about their ministries and countries.Rebecca Sasscer, missionary to India, spoke at Christian Outreach about the home that will house young girls the missionaries are able to buy out of prostitution slavery. According to information from the Oak Ridge Christian Outreach Assembly of God, parents sell their daughters, thinking they will do domestic work, but they are sold into prostitution in Calcutta. For $200, the missionaries buy them back and help them find life again in Christ at the home they are establishing, the information states.

Adherents.com presents:
The Largest Assemblies of God Communities
The religious fellowship known as the Assemblies of God is the principle organized heir to the Pentecostal movement. Modern Pentecostalism began in Topeka, Kansas, in January 1901, and soon spread to Los Angeles and other parts of the United States. Participants of the early Pentecostal movement were usually not welcomed back into their churches and they formed separate, independent congregations throughout the country. Despite their sincerity, Pentecostalists were frequently derided as heretical and non-Christian by ministers of older Protestant denominations. In 1913 a Pentecostal publication, the Word and Witness , called for the various Pentecostal churches to band together for fellowship, doctrinal unity, and to share resources for missionary work, religious training, etc. A national meeting of representatives from independent Pentecostal churches was held in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in April 1914, at which the name "Assemblies of God" was adopted. In this meeting, a somewhat loose organizational structure was conceived in which most aspects of church life are controlled by the local church, yet many key doctrines and practices are standardized throughout the fellowship. (For example, all assemblies are required to adhere to the "Statement of Fundamental Truths" Most of the earlier anti-Pentecostal fervor died down in the latter half of the 1900s, as Pentecostal Christians grew in numbers and gained respect for the strength of their movement, and as certain elements of the movement were integrated into some older churches.

    Freemasonry is a Non-Christian
    Occult Religion
Freemasonry goes by many names, including the Scottish Rite, Masonry, Blue Lodge, Eastern Star (for women), and Shriners. Historically, Masonry has had a strong unifying effect on the American black community. Many people who consider themselves Christians, both black and white, are Masons. Most people, even many Masons incorrectly believe that Masonry is merely a fraternal order, like the Lions Club, Elks Club, etc. Masonry expressly denies it is a religion. Nothing could be further from the truth. Freemasonry is a non-Christian occult religion that teaches a different way to salvation and considers Jesus, Buddha, Confucius, and all spiritual leaders to be only messengers of "The Grand Architect of the Universe". The Grand Architect is not just another term for Jehovah. Freemasonry teaches that there are two basic Gods: Adonay, the god of the Christians , a god of evil and Lucifer , a separate god of good Freemasonry considers the religious scriptures of all religions to be equally valid. Masonry has at least 33 degrees (the lowest is level 1). At each level, a person is given more details, more Masonic 'truth'. Most Masons never get beyond the first few levels.

A religious movement that has spawned a denominational family within the doctrinally conservative ("evangelical") wing of Protestant Christianity. The movement takes its name from the experience of Jesus' disciples on the day of Pentecost, described in the New Testament book of the Acts of the Apostles (2:4), when "they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Pentecostalism has grown dramatically worldwide throughout the twentieth century, making it arguably the most important recent development in Christianity. Although there are many readily identifiable pentecostal denominations movement are more difficult to obtain both because smaller, independent pentecostal churches tend to elude religious censuses and because it is impossible to quantify the influence of pentecostalism in non-pentecostal denominations. Estimates, however, range from 10 million to 29 million followers in the United States alone. What most clearly distinguishes pentecostalism and identifies it as a coherent religious family is the belief in and experience of "baptism of the Spirit" as evidenced by speaking in tongues (glossolalia)
