Asia Society
The Asia Society was founded to foster understanding between Asians and Americans. Since the founding of the Asia Society, its programming has encompassed the public affairs, arts and cultures of all of the diverse countries of Asia, and, in response to changing demographics in the U.S., has expanded to include programs relating to Asian American issues. The Asia Society looks at all of Asia, without excluding any country, area or issue from its mandate. Dedicated to fostering an understanding of Asia and communication between Americans and the peoples of Asia and the Pacific. A nonprofit, nonpartisan educational institution, the Asia Society presents a wide range of programs including major art exhibitions, performances, international corporate conferences and contemporary affairs programs.

Asian American Literature: Sources for Research
The web possesses incredible potential as a research tool for students of Asian American Literature. However, it also possesses the potential to mislead and misinform the unwary on just about any topic. The best, most reliable information is that provided by refereed journals and scholarly books. "Refereed" means that other scholars in the field have read the articles and agreed that they are of sufficient quality to be published.
Refereed Journals
Here are four important journals where articles on Asian American literature appear. Amerasia
This Asian American Studies journal has been in publication since 1971, and has a search engine for topics covered in past issues available on their web site (you can also use this site to search the American Indian Culture Journal and Aztlan ). Check your local college library for bound and current issues.

This digest provides information to help teachers gain a better understanding of Asian-American children, particularly those from East and Southeast Asian cultures, and identify culturally appropriate educational practices to use with those children.
ASIAN-AMERICAN CHILDREN: WHO ARE THEY?
The term Asian-American covers a variety of national, cultural, and religious heritages. Indeed, Asian-Americans represent more than 29 distinct subgroups who differ in language, religion, and customs. The four major groups of Asian-Americans are East Asian, such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean; Pacific Islander; Southeast Asian, such as Thai and Vietnamese; and South Asian, such as Indian and Pakistani (Pang, 1990). Although there are similarities among the various subgroups, they have different origins, ecological adaptations, and histories.

    Introduction
The placement of English language learners in mainstream classes has become more and more common in recent years. Many of these students have not developed the necessary English language proficiency to keep up with their classmates. "Even though language minority students may take up to seven years to develop the level of language proficiency necessary to compete on an equal footing with native speakers of the school language, they are likely to be in mainstream classes long before then" (Harklau, 1994). What can mainstream teachers do to help English language learners in their classes excel? This Resource Guide Online provides links to articles, digests, books, Web sites, and ERIC documents that offer information on the teaching of English language learners in mainstream classes.

Social and Cultural Studies
Teaching includes a great number of resources in this century. Teachers are able to effectively train students in any subject, with print textbooks, Internet resources, and interactive technology. Cultural studies were defined in 1871 by British anthropologist Edward B. Taylor. Many multicultural classrooms exist in the public schools today and teachers are often caught in the flux, trying to work with several cultures at one time. Many guides and resources exist which will facilitate learning for the teachers as they work through these complex situations. Different cultures respond differently to varying forms of education and they can work effectively to find the most appropriate cultural approach to a solution. The links herein deal specifically with social and cultural studies. Get more exposure, list your site

Academic Assistance and Research
As the information our children are expected to acquire during their education becomes increasingly technical and complex, a beyond-the-classroom source of additional information becomes more desirable. Children sometimes struggle with concepts that would become more clear, if only they could get a slightly different explanation, or one that approached the problem from a different angle. The internet provides a vast and ever-increasing repository of different explanations and different answers, if only you can learn how to find them. The resources provided below will lend support to young, inquiring minds as well as established academics. Get more exposure, list your site
