Maryland Asian American Republican Council
Hello, welcome to the Maryland Asian American Republican Council (AARC) . Please bookmark it for future reference (ctrl-D). Asian Americans of the state of Maryland have decided to join hands and voices together in order to be heard. We as the Americans immigrated from the continent of Asia are a hard working, smart, honorable and family loving people and it is time that we, like others, also join together and participate in the political process of the homeland we have chosen. Prosperity is not only for personal and immediate family, it should be together with the larger family of our communities too. In my culture there is a proverb, “one hand does not make any noise, two hands makes little noise but many hands make the noise that the whole world will hear. We are inviting you to be heard. Register Republican Today!
As the close results of the 2000 Presidential Election indicated, every vote does count. But if you're not registered to vote, you won't have a say in choosing the elected leaders who represent you at the Federal, State, and local levels of government. To make your vote count and to keep Howard County and Maryland moving in the right direction, we urge you to register Republican. Register to vote today and join the Howard County Republican Party. To find out more about how to register, go to:
The President of AARC, Mrs. Manda Zand Ervin presented her report highlighting the problems and prospects of Asian American Republican Council. She elaborated how honorably and victoriously the Council was able to accomplish some important achievements. She also put forward the steps and goals of the Council in the year 2004 and beyond. After lively discussions and with a note of appreciation to the efforts made by the president Mrs. Ervin, the meeting unanimously approved the report.

Energy security angers Asian-American lawmaker
Wu started his second term in the House in January By From Ted Barrett CNN Capitol Hill Producer WASHINGTON The only Chinese-American member of Congress says he was refused entry at the Department of Energy by security guards who repeatedly asked him if he was a U.S. citizen. Department spokeswoman Jeanne Lapatto denied that Rep. David Wu, D-Oregon, was asked repeatedly if he was a citizen. Wu had been invited to address department employees Wednesday during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Wu said he was denied access even after showing his congressional identification. Nevertheless, Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham showed up unexpectedly at Wu's office Friday to apologize, an aide to Wu said. The aide said the apology was not specific, but Abraham told Wu his agency would conduct an internal review, including a look at discrimination. Lapatto said that as a security measure, all visitors to the department are asked if they are U.S. citizens when they check in upon arrival. She said a preliminary investigation into Wu's complaint found that there was a "mix-up" involving the location where the congressman was supposed to meet his escort, and that the confusion led to his delay getting into the building.
