From the Report of the General Synod Council's Council for Pacific and Asian American Ministries
Since its inception, the Council for Pacific and Asian American Ministries has focused on outreach. This priority has accounted for the growth of Asian American congregations in the Reformed Church over the years. On May 16, 2004, the Classis of the Greater Palisades organized Peace Korean Reformed Church in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The Classis of California approved Abundant Mission Church in Los Angeles, California, as a mission church. The details for the church's organization are currently being developed. The Classis of Passaic Valley approved Asian Indian Christian Church, which is currently meeting in Roselle Park, New Jersey, as a mission church. A steering committee has been formed to work with the leadership of that congregation to prepare them for organization. While the council has witnessed growth among Asian Americans, it has also heard the complaints of frustrated pastors and congregations. Churches that are exploring affiliation with the RCA do not receive responses from classes. Processes that are not supportive to Asian American church development stifle new ministry starts.
