http://www.ai.uga.edu/
Artificial intelligence is the computer modeling of intelligent behavior, including but not limited to modeling the human mind. We see it as an interdisciplinary field where computer science intersects with philosophy psychology linguistics engineering , and other fields. The Artificial Intelligence Center is an interdepartmental research and instructional center within the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Georgia . Strengths include logic programming, expert systems, neural nets, genetic algorithms, and natural language processing. The Artificial Intelligence Center also houses the undergraduate degree program in Cognitive Science. It is through a combination of these studies we feel intelligence can be best understood and thus replicated. Affiliated with this department are over 75 people hailing from over 10 different countries. We pride ourselves on the diversity of our student body and the ability of our program to allow for the pursuit of personal research interests. Important Announcements: PAIW 2004

IBM Research Artificial Intelligence
About us
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the study of how computer systems can simulate intelligent processes such as learning, reasoning, and understanding symbolic information in context. AI is inherently a multi-disciplinary field. Although it is most commonly viewed as a subfield of computer science, and draws upon work in algorithms, databases, and theoretical computer science, AI also has close connections to the neurosciences, cognitive science and cognitive psychology, mathematical logic, and engineering.
IBM has been a leader in AI since AI's earliest days, when Arthur Samuels (in the 1950s) developed an expert checkers-playing program that learned from experience. Forty years later, IBM Research's chess-playing program Deep Blue made history by beating world chess champion Gary Kasparov.
AI Research at IBM goes far beyond game-playing programs and is at the forefront of many of the hottest areas of Artificial Intelligence. Research in AI at IBM can be characterized by the AI techniques or methodologies used in a particular project, or by the motivating application for which AI is used. AI techniques and methodologies include learning, Bayesian Reasoning, intelligent agents, knowledge representation, logic programming, and planning. AI applications include electronic commerce, intelligent tutoring systems, knowledge management, performance management, and exploratory vision.

It provides personal webpages for many of our Informatics staff and students, as well as hosting sites for our research groups and their projects. The webserver and this local site are obviously very new, so we hope you will forgive (and report!) any shortcomings or faults. Places to visit: Maintained by: Ann Fletcher (

The Midwest Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science Conference
The MAICS conference is a regional conference that accepts papers from all areas of artificial intelligence and cognitive science, including computational linguistics, logic and automated reasoning, knowledge representation, learning and philosophy of mind. Graduate students and junior faculty are especially encouraged to submit papers. The broad range of topics together with the fact that usually only about 20 to 30 submitted papers are accepted, which are mixed with presentations by well known scientists, make the MAICS conference a very special event that has served as a first time presentation opportunity for many graduate students and has attracted international participants.
Upcoming MAICS Conferences
The 16th Midwest Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science Conference, MAICS 2005, will be on April 16 and 17 2005. The conference will be hosted by: The Department of Computer Science at the University of Dayton. The call for papers will be posted shortly.

http://cronus.uwindsor.ca/units/cs/Course.nsf/DegreeRequiredCourse/9033C85147BBC
Degree: Bachelor of Science (Honours Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence Specialization)
Program Goal: According to the American Association for Artificial Intelligence, the focus of Artificial Intelligence is on the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines. This ambitious goal requires a very good understanding of computer science and computing technologies and draws on concepts from many other disciplines in particular linguistics, mathematics, philosophy and psychology. Traditional careers within computing are open to students graduating with a specialization in AI; these include analyst, programmer, system designer and software designer. There are also job opportunities that would require AI background; these include knowledge engineer, expert systems developer, and game developer. A significant number of graduates will also go on to undertake research and higher degrees.
Program Expectation The specialization in Artificial Intelligence requires a set of courses in Artificial Intelligence. These courses prepare the students in both the theoretical, experimental, and applied aspects of artificial intelligence and its methods, covering such topics as search, machine learning, reasoning, knowledge-based systems, and natural language understanding. These topics have practical applications as well as forming the foundation for research. Students are expected to engage in undergraduate research projects during their final year.
