Explains the association of arthritis with psoriasis. Includes symptoms, treatments, and example photos.
http://www.arthritis.co.za/psoriasis.html
Psoriatic arthritis by drdoc on-line Psoriasis is a relatively common skin condition characterized by increased turnover of the skin to produce plaques of keratinized scales and nail changes.
Common skin sites include the flexures of the knees, elbows, umbilicus, behind the ears and at the scalp lining - anteriorly and posteriorly.
Nail changes include pitting and ridging of the nails and are common. Less widely known but well described is the association of arthritis with the psoriasis.
In fact 5-8% of psoriasis patients develop an arthritis.
The arthritis is preceded by the rash in 70-80% of cases, but in 10 % precedes the rash.
The delay in developing the rash may be months to years. In approximately 15% the rash and arthritis appear at the same time.
The severity of the rash does not mirror the severity of the arthritis and a flare of the rash does not necessarily coincide with an arthritis flare.
Nail changes are present in 80% of patients with the arthritis versus 20% without arthritis.

Edgar Cayce says we are Body (Physical), Mind (Mental/Emotional) and Spirit (Soul), and must balance our three aspects to be healed. My recovery was on all levels, balancing the Physical and Mental/Emotional with an excess of Spirit. I will begin with a description of the Physical applications by which I was so greatly helped, after which I will touch on the Mind and Spirit aspects. NOTE: This program works equally well for osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, though it will take longer with rheumatoid.

FDA panel recommends new arthritis drug
By Rhonda Rowland CNN Medical Unit (CNN) Patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis could soon have a new treatment option. A Food and Drug Administration advisory panel, in a 6-2 vote, recommended approval of anakinra, to be marketed as Kineret, for patients who have failed standard therapies for rheumatoid arthritis. "We've seen a good response in 40 percent of patients studied," said Dr. Stanley Cohen, medical director of Radiant Research in Dallas, Texas. "Patients reported they have less pain and feel better overall. They significantly improved in measures of physical disability." The FDA, which usually follows the recommendations of the advisory panel, should make a final decision within six months. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease causing pain and joint swelling. It is the most severe and disabling type of arthritis.
