Although I was engrossed by working, the following years were devoted in a obsessive way to refine the skills of drawing and the basic pictorial techniques, trying to built a solid technical base on which founding a possible carry work of research and experiment.
At the beginning such diligence revealed it self through an obvious production of figurative hyper realist works and it seems to lead to the need to express emotion, reproduced accurately in a thousand details.
This figurative characteristic is devious, a little substitute self-taught man of the canonical academic course; during years I was carrying out paintings with the unique purpose to learn painting everything, trying this way to provide for that can be considered a lack. From the portraits to the landscapes, from the picture to the inside room, passing through the copy, on order, of any antique paintings, till to feel the need to give a personal touch to the works. A difficult and tormented phase that, luckily, still persist and that carries heterogeneous attempts of achievements out: from the experimental abstract coming back to the figurative, trying to the fuse them.

http://www.zipmall.com/mpm-art-colorbl.htm
Color Blindness
Although defective color vision may be acquired as a result of another eye disorder, the vast majority of color blind cases are hereditary - present at birth. Color blindness is rooted in the chromosomal differences between males and females. Females may be carriers of color blindness, but males are more commonly affected. About 8 percent of males and 0.5 percent of females are color deficient. Color blindness is a malfunction of the retina, which converts light energy into electircal energy that is then transmitted to the brain. This conversion is accomplished by two types of photoreceptor cells in the retina: rods and cones. The cones are responsible for encoding color. Each cone contains structures or visual pigments sensitive to one of three wavelengths of light: red, green, and blue. Normal persons are able to match all colors of the spectrum by mixtures of only three fundamental color sensitivities. Hence, the huge variety of colors we perceive stems from the cone cells' response to different compositions of wavelengths of light. Defects in color vision occur when one of the three cone cell color coding structures fails to function properly. One of the visual pigments may be present and functioning abnormally, or it may be absent altogether.

Dezignaré Interior Design Collective, Inc. Johannes Itten The art of color. by Sarah Van Arsdale Sheffield School of Interior Design.
http://www.dezignare.com/newsletter/Johannes_Itten.html
Johannes Itten - The Art of Color by Sarah Van Arsdale Sheffield School of Interior Design Every generation has its share of those who want to impose order on the natural world, to arrange and clarify things. For example, the 1700s saw Linneaus and his taxonomic order for living creatures; today, we say a giraffe is a mammal and a snake is a reptile because over 200 years ago Linneaus drew up his elaborate scheme for classifying everything from mice to eagles. These kind of systems - at least the successful ones - quickly become invisible because they make sense, and they soon become an accepted part of our world view.
In the mid 1900s, Johannes Itten developed a new kind of color wheel that changed the way color was seen, influencing artists and designers right up to the present moment. The Bauhaus in Weimar, Germany was home to many artists whose influence is still felt today in the worlds of art and design. It was there that Itten developed his book, "The Art of Color,"

ART, COLOR AND CHEMISTRY
For budding (and not so budding) Picassos! Where the minds of the scientist and the artist meet.
Description:
This course has two components and is designed to fulfill a one semester (0.5 credit) fine arts requirement.
Students will work in the chemistry lab to unravel the mystery of how dyes and pigments react by making pigments to use for paintings or fabric coloring, while exploring the scientific principles involved. Students will study painting conservation and how conservators determine the ages of paintings. They will identify the effect of light and temperature on color. These and other topics will be elucidated in the class which has been planned in conjunction with the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Students will practice studio art from painting to sculpture. This is where the students' creativity can really soar! In the relaxed environment of the art studio, students will do a wide variety of artistic techniques from canvases on easels to plaster sculpting. Instruction will be given on executing portraits and many other art forms. Dates: June 26th to July 28th Time: 8:30am to 3:00pm, Monday - Thursday

June 6, 2004 Lots of new links and books here today. I'm finally catching up after a wild and wooly spring. Spring morphed quickly into summer in Ohio, but has taken a step backward after some horrific storms. We're having a lovely start to June with cool nights and warm days and at the moment, sunny skies. I've been tending my gardens and woods. The woods looked good this spring and many of my new wildflowers bloomed. In addition, there are more of the old-timers like Spring Beauty and Bloodroot that may have come up from dormant plants. The waterleaf shown here covers the woods floor in late May. Now the annual battle with next year's Garlic-mustard plants begins. If you haven't already visited my woodland project, you can start here Our Jenna is 16 months old now and turning into a chatterbox, with wild tales to tell if anyone could figure out what she is saying. She has lots of words, though, and knows all her colors. I wonder how that happened? Read this brief article about alternate palettes at The Artist's Magazine online. This is a cut-out from an article published in the magazine.
