Not Logged In Register Log In Lynn Lawson Georgia USA I was born into a very artistic family - artists-writers-dancers-musicians and singers, so naturally I was drawn to anything I could possibly do at a very young age. My interest in art came when I was 9 years old. I entered a matchbook art school test and passed with flying colors. A representative from the school called and when my mother explained I was only 9, he said they would let me attend anyway. She declined and I put art away until I was a senior in high school. I had a crush on my very suave Italian art teacher and took in addition to English 4, 5 art classes so I could be close to him. I joined the various art clubs he held at night and my interest in art grew, while my crush on him faded. He helped me with a portfolio and also wrote a letter to the colleges of choice for me. It was due to him that I attended Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, hisalma mater. I traveled throughout Europe and finally tamed the wanderlust in myself in 1979 when I moved to Florida and met and married a musician and started my family. To ease my boredom and bring in extra money, I began working in the business world again. After my two beautiful children were born, I enjoyed creating arts and crafts with them. I hung everything they drew up on my walls and to not stifle their creative energies, I let them crayon a huge mural in my entrance hall. It was one of the nicest murals I had ever seen and I was so proud of them. It wasn't until a devastating medical accident declared me disabled for life in 2001 that I again picked up a paint brush.
