The Building and Grounds Committee discussed a possible masterplan for the high school in a meeting last week, but will further review the options of the two masterplans in the school board meeting on Aug. 19. The final masterplan of the high school may look different from the two proposed plans drawn by architect Steve Elliott after suggestions and information are gathered from the school district.
Board member, Martha Feland says that it is important to get input from the staff on what is needed in classrooms and buildings. Board member, Alan Turnbo agreed with Feland saying that the architect needs to understand the type and size of spaces that teachers and children need.

Houston Commons , the natural area on the southeast corner of the 26-acre Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo, has been enhanced with a $600,000 construction project. The cornerstone of the project is an interpretive area known as the Boettcher Outdoor Education Center . This new amenity will provide a unique addition to the Riverwalk that will allow diverse groups to utilize the Riverwalk for educational purposes. A covered outdoor amphitheater, which can seat 80 people, will provide space for local schools to bring students to the great outdoors to learn a fresh perspective on Pueblo's history. Meeting planners can reserve the space for small training sessions and performing arts troupes can stage outdoor theater. Weddings and other special occasions are already being booked for the summer of 2003. These upgrades to the natural area were made possible through a grant from the Boettcher Foundation

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is committed to providing quality educational opportunities that meet the diverse needs of all Arkansans, both now and in the future. UALR offers 96 degree programs ranging from associate to doctoral levels. The Little Rock area, Arkansas' major metropolitan center, is home to over a half million people. Little Rock is centrally located, within easy reach of virtually any metropolitan area in the Mid-South by major highway and from anywhere in the US by air. UALR is building on a vigorous tradition that began with the founding of Little Rock Junior College in 1927. The institution became Little Rock University in 1957 and joined the University of Arkansas system to become UALR in 1969. The 150-acre campus includes 30 major buildings, sensibly arranged for the convenience of students. The University campus is in a constant state of growth UALR opened its first 306-bed residence hall for the 1992 fall semester, and a new state-of-the-art student center opened in August, 1993. Other special facilities include a 700-seat theater, a concert hall, a recital hall, two art galleries and a planetarium offering shows for the general public and school groups. UALR has grown from an enrollment of 3,500 students in 1969 to its current total near 12,000 students. The demographics of the campus are unique, with 58 percent of the population made up of women and the student's average age at 26; many students must balance the demands of a career and family with their education.
