Noah's Ark Animal Welfare Association  Rt. 46 Ledgewood, NJ 07852 Please help Cozette , our senior Lab mix female with the cost of her surgery to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in her hind leg. She is a wonderful, docile creature who was surrendered into a kill facility and due to her advanced age and injury to her leg, was deemed hopeless! A handful of wonderful volunteers from MD, who help transport animals to safety, especially Laurie Spencer, rescued Cozette and helped return her to our shelter where she was originally adopted. Cozette needs this surgery, but it is very expensive and because we have so many pets in residence to care for, we are asking the public for help. Please, she has come so far, don't let her luck run out now! Update : Noah's Ark received a donation of $350 from an wonderful person who wishes to remain anonymous in order to start the wheels in motion by helping Cozette get this much needed surgery. If you would like to donate to this cause, simply send in your donations marked "Cozette" or simply stop by the shelter and meet with her yourself and see the canister we have on the front desk especially for her surgery. You may even fall in love and whisk her away to her new homeafterall, fairytales do happen... Still missing: Here's Apricot (funny name but came in with it). He is a 3 yr. old neutered male Shep mix who is very sweet but extremely shy unless he knows you then he is a lap dog. He loves other dogs. It would be best if someone spots him to try and corral this dog in an enclosed area and call for help. Any sightings should also be called in to Noah's Ark Shelter at (973) 347-0378 or into your local Animal Control Office for Noah's Ark. Thank you!

In the sport of professional rodeo, cowboys share the limelight with the rodeo livestock. For a cowboy to compete at the highest level, the livestock also must be in peak condition. Both are athletes in their own right. The very nature of rodeo requires a working relationship, and in some events a partnership, between the cowboys and animal athletes.
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) athletes value their animals, as do the PRCA stock contractors that provide the livestock for the rodeos. Like most people, PRCA members believe animals should be provided proper care and treatment. The PRCA and its members value their animals and staunchly protect them with specifically created rules.
Like a well-conditioned athlete, an animal can perform well only if it is healthy. Any cowboy will tell you he takes home a paycheck only when the animal is in top form. Stock contractors, the ranchers who raise and provide livestock to rodeos, also have an obvious financial interest in keeping the animals healthy. Simple logic dictates that no sensible businessperson would abuse an animal that is expected to perform in the future.
Hundreds of veterinarians compete in professional rodeo.

News - Pro hunt poll ruled "unreliable" Pro-hunt organisation the Countryside Alliance has been criticised by the official advertising watchdog the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for its use of a poll it claimed showed majority support for hunting with dogs.
The ASA upheld a complaint made by the League Against Cruel Sports that the Countryside Alliance advert, claiming 59 per cent support for hunting, had "flawed methodology and unreliable results."
In its finding, the ASA called the poll results "misleading", after taking expert advice and considering the League's complaint for over eight months.

The Market Research Society (MRS), the professional body for market, social and opinion researchers, has made similar criticisms against NOP, the polling company used by the Countryside Alliance.

Welcome to the London Humane Society

The London Humane Society works to assist animals by providing them with a home until they can be adopted into a new family. We offer shelter and care, including medical care, to approximately 2,000 animals each year, and respond to more than 1,300 complaints of animal cruelty. We rescued more than 200 animals from bad situations, laying criminal charges
when warranted. We also provide the community with information and education, believing that education, particularly of our young people, is one of the most effective ways to teach a sense of responsibility toward companion animals as well as a respect and compassion for all living beings. None of these important animal care programs would be possible, however, without the help of concerned and caring people like you. We invite you to explore our new site for information on our Humane Society services, volunteer opportunities and upcoming events.

Its intention is to emphasise welfare issues important in the basic care and management of human-dependent animals, particularly cats and horses. It endorses the Five Freedoms intrinsic to any animal welfare legislation and outlined in the Universal Declaration for the Welfare of Animals , a document which has received escalating support since its launch at the WSPA Animals 2000 World Congress.
1. Freedom from hunger and thirst: by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour
2. Freedom from discomfort: by providing an appropriate environment including shelter
3. Freedom from pain, injury and disease: by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment and a comfortable resting area
4. Freedom from fear and distress: by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering

They generously provide the citizens of Bandera County with low cost/no cost spay/neuter of pets and feral animals in this county. We thank them so much for all their assistance! We need people to help run a booth, prepare a school program or help design flyers. Please come by PetsMart (La Cima - Summit Parkway, San Antonio, TX) on Saturdays from noon to 6:00 and visit with us. You can contact us at (830) 751-2886 or (830) 751-2595.

Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County Earlier this year, a full-grown, female tiger cat stowed away in a U-Haul truck and made the trek from West Plains, Mo., to Port Charlotte, along with an unsuspecting family that was moving into the area. The family contacted the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County, Fla., Inc. , which took in the contraband kitty. After unsuccessful attempts to locate its owner in West Plains, the League found a new, loving home for the cat in Charlotte County. This cat's plight is one example of many that occur each week in Charlotte County. Most are not as dramatic, but many are far more severe. That's where the Animal Welfare League comes in. The League, an affiliate of the Humane Society of the United States , has been active in Charlotte County since 1962. It offers many services to the pet-loving public, including:
    • Lost and found: The League is the only pet lost-and-found service in the area. Anyone who has lost or found a pet should contact the shelter at 941-625-6720 and relay the pet information. Turning in a photograph is also recommended. "It's very important to stay calm and give a thorough description of your pet," Animal Welfare League Executive Director Shirley McVicker said.
