Welcome to the Animal Welfare section of the Defra website. Like many of you looking at this site, we recognise that animals are sentient beings - not merely commodities. It follows that the standards of animal welfare we apply are very important. The following pages are a guide to what Defra is doing to ensure priority is given to these standards for welfare of animals on-farm, during transport, at markets and at slaughter. The independent advisory body Farm Animal Welfare Council (FAWC) , provides advice for Ministers on these issues. Details of Government Responses to the FAWC reports are also available. Defra is also responsible for policy on general animal welfare, which covers the welfare of all domestic and captive animals. We are proposing an Animal Welfare Bill - Analysis of the Replies to the Public Consultation review of the scientific aspects and veterinary opinions relating to tail docking in dogs (137 KB).

Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, to Crowborough, Cranbrook, and Maidstone.
Rescued Animals in Need was born about twenty-five years ago when a group of ladies in the Green Street Green area of Kent decided to do something to help local animals in need. With a good deal of hard work and dedication, they became a Registered Charity in 1986.
The main aim of RAIN is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals, and to provide any help that is needed in terms of general care and veterinary treatment.
We work mainly with cats, dogs, and small pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters that all need new homes for one reason or another. The charity also has contacts with welfare organisations dealing with wild animals, birds, and other animals. Our "

Greetings from our 501c3 animal welfare organization
the Virginia Partnership for Animal Welfare and Support The problems faced by many companion animals today -
overpopulation, neglect, abuse, abandonment, and euthanasia can only be permanently resolved by addressing their causes. Most of this suffering can be traced back to irresponsible breeding, irresponsible ownership and inadequate animal welfare legislation and enforcement.
VA PAWS seeks to ease and work towards the elimination of animal suffering. Watch for our work in the future. If you love animals, we think that you will like what you see! We hope you will support us with donations and perhaps become actively involved. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
MONTHLY MEETINGS
Our next meeting will be on Monday May 24th, at 6:30 in the community room of the Christiansburg Library.
If anyone needs more information, please contact 3VA-PAWS or 651-4530, or by e-mail at
