The shelter cost $120,000, and all the money was raised through fundraisers and donations. Our shelter was paid in full in 1995 and now all the monies raised through fundraisers goes towards the care of our very precious residents. Our Mission Our doors are open to all homeless and abandoned animals, and our pets, when adopted, are free but the cost of the spay or neuter must be paid. Owned animals are admitted only if there is room. UPDATE!!!!! JUNE 2001 SHAID is now a Low Kill Shelter As S.H.A.I.D. takes in owned animals, we cannot be truly considered a no-kill shelter.
