Special Report Japanese Scandals - This Time It's Archaeology A Preliminary Report by Charles T. Keally Background Mainichi Shimbun (Mainichi newspaper) broke the news on Sunday morning, November 5, 2000 - an archaeologist, FUJIMURA Shin'ichi, had been caught on video planting stone artifacts at the Kami-Takamori site in the town of Tsukidate in northern Miyagi Prefecture in northeastern Japan. Mainichi Shimbun (Japanese edition) Japanese archives Mainichi Shimbun (English edition) English archives Kami-Takamori has become famous as the oldest Early Palaeolithic site in Japan, with the ages of eight or more cultural layers ranging from 500,000 to 700,000 years. But more significant was the fact that several caches of neatly arranged stone artifacts indicated levels of early human ( Homo erectus ) symbolic cognition far beyond anything suspected from the evidence in Africa and Europe. If correct, the evidence from Kami-Takamori could have rewritten our textbooks on human evolution. Now that and possibly the entire Japanese Early and Middle Palaeolithic has sunk into the mire of scandal, something that decorates the front pages of Japanese newspapers almost every day, as politicians, bureaucrats, business leaders, doctors, lawyers and leaders from just about every area of life show up in the headlines with their heads hung in shame.

Introduction
Mayan Mexico Maya Guatemala, Belize, Honduras Mayan Architecture ... Central America
DESTINATIONS Made Up of Time Mayan Mexico By Mark Leger The most traditional Maya communities on the Yucatan peninsula are concentrated in the Zona Maya, an isolated area of central Quintana Roo. Punta Laguna , a small village in Quintana Roo, is a great place to stop for an afternoon and learn directly from the Mayan farmers about traditional Mayan life and agricultural methods. Tabasco's Maya live in the Chontalpa, the fertile floodplain of the Grijalva and Usumacinta rivers. In Chiapas, the Maya are scattered in many small mountain village, with San Cristsbal de las Casas being their market center. Chiapas is currently the center of an impassioned struggle for indigenous rights. At this writing, it seems like a safe enough place to visit, but you should check with local authorities. The two most famous sites in Mexico are Palenque and Chichen Itza . But there are many other sites , with their own unique fascinations to explore. (

EGYPTIAN MUSEUM The greatest collection of Egyptian antiquities is, without doubt, that of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo . It is a place of true discovery and, even after many visits, I continue to make new and delightful discoveries every time I venture into its many galleries. To be sure, the museum can be daunting in the sheer numbers of its antiquities on show, but there is an order within its layout and it is a dream come true for anyone wanting to study Egyptian antiquities. However, the negative side is that the environmental and display conditions leave a great deal to be desired. Labels on some exhibits date from early in the century and many items have no labels at all. Guidebooks are available at the museum, although they are limited to some of the major items. The museum's ground floor follows the history of ancient Egypt. Upon entering through the security check in the building, one looks toward the atrium and the rear of the building with many items on view - from sarcophagi and boats to enormous statues. Just in front of these you will find an Object of the Month on display. Behind it are some of the most important items from the time of the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt some 5,000 years ago, including the famous slate palette of king Narmer - one of the first documents of Egyptian history. Also on show are small masterpieces of sculpture - keep in mind that these are some 50 centuries old. This is an area that should not be missed!

Although I’ve explored many new forms, clothed them in a variety of new techniques, and given them a place in the world, that’s not what it’s all about for me. It’s about visiting those places within myself that are wiser, clearer and more creative than my everyday self. When I’m there, I never feel alone, abandoned to my own limitations. The results of time spent in this place, are what I share with my students, but I’ve never tried to communicate how these results came to be. Teaching the results is no longer enough, I’m hoping that sharing the entire process will inspire the hidden wise and creative selves waiting in each student to make themselves known Gwen's newest tools... Why this website
This website consist of several parts. 1. The pre-publication of a book I started in September 1998 consisting of my theory about Ancient Times. 2. The publication of Ancient texts, especially from the Near East, of which some were gathered from the Internet (with thanks to the publishers) and others from my own library. On this website you can read translations of a lot of ancient texts from Sumer and Babylonia and the Apocrypha, Pseudepigrapha and Sacred texts, most of them I used as a source for my book. The real story about Moslem Martyrs taken from : The Hadith Qudsi 6 The first of people against whom judgment will be pronounced on the Day of Resurrection will be a man who died a martyr. He will be brought and Allah will make known to him His favours and he will recognize them. The Almighty will say: And what did you do about them? He will say: I fought for you until I died a martyr. He will say: You have lied - you did but fight that it might be said [of you]: He is courageous. And so it was said.

Early Clocks
N ot until somewhat recently (that is, in terms of human history) did people find a need for knowing the time of day. As best we know, 5000 to 6000 years ago great civilizations in the Middle East and North Africa began to make clocks to augment their calendars. With their attendant bureaucracies, formal religions, and other burgeoning societal activities, these cultures apparently found a need to organize their time more efficiently.
Sun Clocks
T he Sumerian culture was lost without passing on its knowledge, but the Egyptians were apparently the next to formally divide their day into parts something like our hours. Obelisks (slender, tapering, four-sided monuments) were built as early as 3500 BCE. Their moving shadows formed a kind of sundial, enabling people to partition the day into morning and afternoon. Obelisks also showed the year's longest and shortest days when the shadow at noon was the shortest or longest of the year. Later, additional markers around the base of the monument would indicate further subdivisions of time. Another Egyptian shadow clock or sundial, possibly the first portable timepiece, came into use around 1500 BCE. This device divided a sunlit day into 10 parts plus two "twilight hours" in the morning and evening. When the long stem with 5 variably spaced marks was oriented east and west in the morning, an elevated crossbar on the east end cast a moving shadow over the marks. At noon, the device was turned in the opposite direction to measure the afternoon "hours."

New Year Celebration
New Year's Eve and Day Festivities Around the World By: John Shepler 10...9...8... The lighted ball in New York's Times Square starts picking up speed. 7...6...5... It's almost time. 4...3...2... Everyone holds their breath for the last few seconds. We're about to jump that seemingly large but invisible gap that separates the years. 1...0... Happy New Year! We made it. The old year, for better or worse, is gone for good. The new year has begun with fresh promise. Here's our chance to start again, to do it right this time, to have another shot at success...at glory...at just accomplishing what we resolve to. It's time to shed that baggage from the year long gone and celebrate what can be in the 365 untouched days to come. Happy New Year! We can trace the origins of a new year's celebration back to the ancient Egyptians and Babylonians, at least 4,000 years ago. In Egypt, the Nile river signaled a new beginning for the farmers of the Nile as it flooded their land and enriched it with the silt needed to grow crops for the next year. This happened near the end of September. The Babylonians held their festival in the spring, on March 23, to kick off the next cycle of planting and harvest. Symbolically, the king was stripped of his robes and sent away for a few days while the people whooped it up. He then returned in all his finery for a grand parade, and the normal activities of life would return for the new year.

If interested in Ancient European History here are some interesting informations. Ancient Romanian history starting with early Indo-European tribes and later on developing in early European civilizations. Today's Romania is a direct descendent of those tribes "Getae" named by the Greeks and "Dacian" by Romans. THE CHRONOLOGICAL BEGINNING - Chronological description of events starting with The Big Bang CUCUTENI POTTERY The "Pre-Cucuteni" culture is considered by the American historian Marija Gimbutas for being the oldest European culture with the pre Indo-European population at its development apogee between 5,000 - 4,000 B.C. " It would have sustained cities. It did start to develop into an urban culture, especially in one area of the Cucuteni civilization which is presently Romania and the western part of the Ukraine. There we have cities of ten to fifteen thousand inhabitants in around 4,000 B.C. So urban development began, but it was truncated." I believe in God. I believe He is the Creator of all things. Odd as it may sound, I also believe God communicates with those He created. I have no scientific proof for the hard-nosed skeptic, but I do have the experiences of myself and others for those open to faith. Throughout the ages God used dreams and visions to speak to man. The Bible relates stories of Him guiding and warning His children. Today alledged visions and apparitions continue to be reported. Is God alerting us to impending catastrophic events? I am an ordinary person, who occasionally has extraordinary dreamsprecognitive dreams or dreams about the future. At first I dismissed them as the product of an overactive imagination. Deep in my soul, I knew they were much more. My prophetic dreams come true-some within hours and others years later. Many have had personal significance, such as the death of my father and birth of my son. Others describe events that effect the entire planet and each inhabitant. For decades I have awaited the manifestation of my most profound and serious dream. Finally five years ago I searched prophecy for answers. The discovery I made left me spellbound!
