The penis is the male sex organ and serves as a passageway for urine. It consists of three cylindrical masses of erectile tissues and the urethra surrounded by a loose layer of skin Two paired, copus cavernosa of the penis lie dorsally while one ventrally-located corpus spongiosum surrounds the urethra. The corpus spongiosum expands at the terminal end to form the glans penis. These erectile tissues are composed of venous spaces lined with epithelial cells separated by connective tissue and smooth muscle cells. Most of the penile urethra is lined with pseudostratified epithelium, but in the glans it becomes stratified squamous epithelium. Glands secrete mucous into the urethral lumen all along the length of the penile urethra. The glans is highly innervated with sensory neurons, that are stimulated by contact and friction during sexual relations. The stimulation may result in ejaculation of semen and pleasure sensation(s). The arterial supply to the penis originates at the internal pudendal arteries. Nutritive arteries supply oxygen and nutrients to the vascular tissues and trabeculae. Other arteries (helicine) empty directly into the erectile tissues. There is minimal blood flow (i.e. pooling) to the flaccid penis.

Why have a web page on foreskin anatomy?
Education
A surprising number of people in the US have never seen an intact penis. They have no idea what a foreskin is, what it does, what it looks like, or what it's good for. This is especially true for the older generations since the circumcision rate in the US was once as high as 95%. It is now dropped to 60% for the US as a whole and 30% in the western states. In most other western countries, the infant circumcision rate is near zero. Many doctors in the US have no idea what a foreskin does or what it is good for. These doctors know only about the " problems " guys can have with their foreskins and know of no solutions other than circumcision. No anatomy textbook that I've ever seen has an accurate diagram of what the foreskin is or how it works, although I havn't looked lately (if there is one, I'd like to know). The following pictures are intended show a lot more. Preventing Circumcision
I hope that once people are educated about the male anatomy, they will stop circumcising their male infants.

About Brain Injury: A Guide to Brain Anatomy Click On Any Label To Go To A Definition or Scroll Down To View All Definitions. Brainstem - The lower extension of the brain where it connects to the spinal cord. Neurological functions located in the brainstem include those necessary for survival (breathing, digestion, heart rate, blood pressure) and for arousal (being awake and alert). Most of the cranial nerves come from the brainstem. The brainstem is the pathway for all fiber tracts passing up and down from peripheral nerves and spinal cord to the highest parts of the brain. Damage may result in ataxia which is a problem of muscle coordination. This can interfere with a person's ability to walk, talk, eat, and to perform other self care tasks. Click Here To Return To Diagram Frontal Lobe - Front part of the brain; involved in planning, organizing, problem solving, selective attention, personality and a variety of "higher cognitive functions" including behavior and emotions. Click Here for a Diagram of the Frontal Lobe The anterior (front) portion of the frontal lobe is called the prefrontal cortex. It is very important for the "higher cognitive functions" and the determination of the personality.

In the first two years of the degree students gain a broad introduction to anatomy and developmental biology. All first-year courses and most second-year courses are compulsory and many are shared with other degree programmes in the Faculty of Life Sciences. A single optional course is available to students in the second year of the degree, chosen from among many possible options both in the Sciences and in the Arts and Humanities. Second year students also follow a course in the Ethics of Fertility and Embryo Research. In the final year students have further choices alongside structured courses: compulsory courses in Embryonic and Fetal Pathology and Mechanisms of Development, and options selected courses such as Advanced Anatomy, Cellular and Developmental Neurobiology, Chronobiology (Biological Timing), Advanced Cell Biology and many others. Third-year students also join one of the departmental research groups, for two terms, to work on an original research project. Degree Structure Year 1

http://www.srv.net/~msdata/bell.html
Site Map Notes Update 04 Dr. Claudia Krenz This is a web page about a logistic regression, the first one interpreted in The Bell Curve Armed Services Qualifying Test (AFQT), a socioeconomic status index (SES), and AGEto predict whether or not selected National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY) cases lived above or below the POVERTY level. Since the NLSY is a longitudinal study, HM were able to take AFQT and SES data from the beginning of the NLSY and use them, along with their AGE covariate, to predict POVERTY a decade later. They computed the first three variables, their model, themselves (Appendix 2, pp. 593-604). The book shows the result of their analysisa printout from their statistical package, JMP (Appendix 4, p. 622)and how they interpreted it (Chapter 5, p. 127). I got numbers identicaldown to four significant digitsto those published in this first Bell Curve regression analysis: I downloaded the data and, following the book, excluded all but white non-students without missing values on any of the analysis variablesand, of those, all but NLSY X-Sectional(N=3367).

Introduction
Welcome, your exploration of development can begin in many different ways. Follow the guide shown below (Begin, Next, Finally) or use the internal links shown on the left. These main linked pages will give you access to many different embryology resources.
Begin
By looking at the Carnegie stages and watching the changes in the embryo's appearance over the first weeks of development. An easy introduction is also given by the K12 notes for young students.
Next
The Developmental Notes give information about early developmental processes. Later development features can be seen in the System Notes Each section of notes is organized in a similar way giving: an introduction, overview, developmental abnormalities, stage 13/14 and stage 22 examples of structures, histology and developmental molecular mechanisms. Development Notes Menstrual Cycle Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Placenta Serial Images Genes/DNA Molecular Dev Abnormal Dev Postnatal Dev Notes Index System Notes Heart/Cardiovascular Respiratory Coelomic cavity Gastrointestinal Tract Head and Neck Neural Neural Crest Eye Ear Nose Endocrine Urogenital Musculoskeletal Integumentary
Finally
For those wanting to see dynamic processes of development (and have a reasonably quick connection) then the Movies pages are good for watching changes occur.
