Alternative Elementary II
An Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound Elementary School
Next Site Council Meeting May 12, 7:00 p.m.
Alternative Elementary II (AE2) is an alternative elementary school in the Seattle Public Schools. The school is based on the Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound (ELOB) model.
Our school is based on the philosophical assumptions that:
The elementary school is a place where children learn to be participants in society through the acquisition of significant skills Children must be respected as individuals Children want the authority - and have the capability - to take responsibility for decisions affecting them Skill acquisition is a continuous life process which requires the development of skills that enable the child to learn "How To Learn"

Walker Academy Home About Us Why Walker Academy? Our Faculty ... News Welcome to the Walker Academy web site. You will find information about our school and how to become a part of our student body. We look forward to hearing from you.
Our Mission
The mission of Walker Academy is to enable students to achieve academic success, to learn more about themselves, and to develop better decision making skills.
Doris A. Walker Academy was founded in August 1998 by Emily H. Walker, Ed. D. Dr. Walker opened the non-profit, private school on the belief that:
No child should be left behind by any school system; Each child is special; Each child has a unique learning style. From its humble beginning in 1998 with three students, the Academy has grown to an average size of 100 per year. Over the past five years, the Academy has served over 600 students and has graduated 104 young people. The Academy is now recognized as an excellent choice for students and parents seeking an individualized approach to learning. In the fall of 2000. Walker Academy received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). This accreditation assures students that credits earned at the Academy will be accepted by thousands of colleges across the country.
