Sherry Bailey, Jacqueline Hill and Pamela Livingston received notification of their certification shortly before Thanksgiving. Tammy McMinn, a former Fairview Middle School teacher who now teaches in the Blount County school system, also earned certification. Hill decided to go through the year-long certification process to see if she could do it. “I saw it as a personal challenge,” Hill said. The process was beneficial to Hill. “I learned where I need to improve. It really helped me pick apart my own thinking,” she said. “Some of the questions they ask really made me think.” Unless someone has gone through this process, Hill said, it’s difficult to understand. “Even if I didn’t pass, it was still worth it,” she said. “I’m ecstatic I did pass.
