AIDS and HIV Advertising AIDS is a life-threatening disruption of the immune system by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). This virus progressively weakens the body's ability to fight off disease, opening it to severe infections with both common and exotic organisms, as well as various forms of cancer. In the United States, most cases of AIDS have been traced to the virus called HIV-1... [more] HIV/AIDS is spread through bodily fluids, most frequently blood, male seminal fluid, or female vaginal secretions. For transmission to occur, the infected fluid must enter the uninfected person's body through some kind of cut or opening in the skin or mucous membranes in the body. The virus can be transmitted at any stage of infection. You need not be symptomatic, or even know you are infected, in order to pass the AIDS virus to someone else. People are most infectious within the first six months to one year following their own infection, and then six to ten years later as their immune system becomes more suppressed.

The History of the AIDS Epidemic in Thailand There are very few developing countries in the world where public policy has been effective in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS on a national scale, but Thailand is an exception. A massive program to control HIV has reduced visits to commercial sex workers by half, raised condom usage, decreased STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) dramatically, and achieved substantial reductions in new HIV infections. Thailand, though, is also a reminder that success can be relative. Its well funded, politically supported and comprehensive prevention programmes have saved millions of lives, reducing the number of new HIV infections from 143,000 in 1991 to 29,000 in 2001. None the less, one-in-100 Thais in this country of 63.6 million people is infected with HIV, and AIDS has become the leading cause of death. However, unless past efforts are sustained and new sources of infection are addressed, the striking achievements made in controlling the epidemic could now be put at risk. There is a need in Thailand to continue strong HIV/AIDS prevention and education efforts in the future, as well as providing treatment and care for those living with HIV/AIDS The Start of the AIDS Epidemic in Thailand The first case of AIDS was reported in Thailand in 1984, and it is believed that widespread transmission began in the late 1980s.

AIDS/HIV/AZT Controversy - AZT Forced Treatment of Kids - Healing AIDS: no drugs "AIDS is a cruel deception that is maintained because so many people are making money from it. Take away this money and the entire system of mythology will collapse." Charles Thomas, PhD A growing number of scientists world-wide have publicly denounced the total failure of the HIV/AIDS hypothesis, questioned the meaning of the "AIDS test", and criticized the use of AZT which has been proven to be a toxic poison that makes the patient sicker and is actually the cause of AIDS deaths. The group includes scientists such as Kary Mullis, who won the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1993 for inventing the polymerase chain reaction used to test for HIV. James DeMeo, Ph.D., Director of Orgone Biophysical Research Lab, and Peter H. Duesberg, Ph.D., a professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley. Welcome to... During the summer of 2001,  we took part in the Governor's Summer Internship Program. As part of the program, the interns were required to complete a policy paper on a topic of their choice. We completed a policy paper entitled, "Reducing the Risk: Implementing Standardized Mandatory HIV/AIDS Curriculum in Maryland's Public Schools."
The policy paper has been put on the web so that others may gain access to information about this very important topic. We hope that someday our work will make a difference and perhaps reform current HIV/AIDS curricula requirements in Maryland. If you wouild like any inforamtion or have any questions we urge you to contact us.
