This Web site is designed to assist Michigan Farm Bureau members with agricultural education activities, keeping them abreast on current happenings and events within Michigan Farm Bureau. The site will provide resources and lessons to teachers interested in Agriculture in the Classroom as well as resources and fun learning tools for children to learn more about Michigan Agriculture and how it touches their day lives. What is Agriculture in the Classroom?
The Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program is coordinated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Its goal is to help students gain a greater awareness of the role of agriculture in the economy and society. Agriculture touches lives daily from food and clothing to medicine and fuel. This is why it is important to integrate agriculture into schools across Michigan. Michigan Farm Bureau and county Farm Bureau's across the state carry out a variety of AITC programs. Check out the lessons section to gain insight on the lessons developed for the classroom. If you are interested in having a presentation in your classroom, contact your local county Farm Bureau.

They also sought to refocus the debate on the lingering challenge of hunger in America. In comments to reporters, American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman and America’s Second Harvest President Bob Forney said while obesity is a serious concern for all Americans, critics often fail to realize that obesity and hunger co-exist. “Critics falsely say U.S. agriculture is the cause for the nation’s weight gain, and they incorrectly claim an over-abundance of affordable food is the reason the U.S. population is becoming more and more fat

    Description
Agricultural Education provides students with the opportunity to participate in coordinated group and individual instructional activities that are focused on preparation for future careers in agriculture. The agricultural education program is designed to develop technical, leadership, and management expertise needed by middle and high school students preparing for careers in agricultural occupations and to further education in an agriculturally-related field. Agriculture encompasses various elements of the food, fiber, and natural resource systems. Agricultural employment is broadly defined to include careers that require agricultural knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed in producing, managing, processing, marketing, distributing, regulating, or protecting any of the renewable resources. Formal instruction may also be provided for out-of-school youth and adults who wish to upgrade their agricultural skills and knowledge.
    Design
The agricultural education program is built on the three core areas of classroom/laboratory instruction, supervised agricultural experience programs, and FFA student organization activities/opportunities. The agricultural education program is designed for delivery through these three core educational strategies:
