O Projektu ARCHEOINDEX
Projekt ARCHEOINDEX Pøi tvorbì tìchto stránek jsem myslel zejména na zkušenìjší uživatele archeologických serverù. Zaèáteèník zde bude mít nejspíše jisté problémy naleznout to co hledá, nebo forma seznamu ARCHEOINDEX vychází z vìtší èásti z pùvodních názvù WWW.

Alberta archeologists racing to save ancient artifacts
Last Updated Mon, 22 Dec 2003 13:31:43 CALGARY - A team of archeologists from Calgary is heading to Sudan over the holidays, where they'll be racing to save the remnants of an ancient African civilization. Archeology and anthropology professors John Robertson and Rebecca Bradley of Mount Royal College will try to find and save artifacts of the Kush, a little-known people who lived about 2,000 years ago along the banks of the Upper Nile in what is now Sudan.
John Robertson "They were astronomers, mathematicians, they had writing, they had the sciences," said Robertson. "The pottery is just exquisite." Though the Kush empire once stretched from the Nile to the Euphrates and briefly ruled ancient Egypt, the civilization mysteriously disappeared, remaining undiscovered until about 50 years ago. But just as researchers are beginning to learn more about the long-lost Kush, a 200-kilometre stretch of land in the heart of their ancient territory is about to be buried under water from a new dam, that's scheduled for completion by 2006. Worried about the potential loss of priceless artifacts, the Sudanese government invited international researchers to search the area and salvage what they could.

African History
Sourcebook Africa is both the most clearly defined of continents - in its geography - and the hardest to pin down in historical terms. Human beings originated in Africa and, as a result, there is more diversity of human types and societies than anywhere else. It is not possible, in any non-ideological way, to claim any one of these peoples or societies as more essentially "African" than others; nor is it possible to exclude a given society as "not really African". On this site historical sources on the history of human societies in the continent of Africa are presented, when available, without making prejudgements about what is "African". This page is a subset of texts derived from the three major online Sourcebooks listed below. For more contextual information, for instance about the Islamic world, check out these web sites. Notes: In addition to direct links to documents, links are made to a number of other web resources.

It examines the contemporary life and history of Africa through its triple heritage: what is indigenous, what was contributed by Islam, and what was acquired from the West. The coexistence of these legacies helps to explain the diversity of the continent and the African people. 1. The Nature of a Continent The examination of Africa as the birthplace of humankind and discussion of the impact of geography on African history. The program includes the role of the Nile in the origin of civilization and the introduction of Islam to Africa through its Arabic borders. 2. A Legacy of Lifestyles African contemporary lifestyles are examined by tracing the influence of indigenous, Islamic, and Western factors. The program compares simple African societies with those that are more complex and centralized, and examines the importance of family life. 3. New Gods

http://ragz-international.com/archeology.htm
Archeology The International History Project Date:2003 Archeology is the scientific study of past human culture and behavior, from the origins of humans to the present. Archaeology studies past human behavior through the examination of material remains of previous human societies. These remains include the fossils (preserved bones) of humans, food remains, the ruins of buildings, and human artifacts—items such as tools, pottery, and jewelry. From their studies, archaeologists attempt to reconstruct past ways of life. Archaeology is an important field of anthropology, which is the broad study of human culture and biology. Archaeologists concentrate their studies on past societies and changes in those societies over extremely long periods of time. With its focus on the ancient past, archaeology somewhat resembles paleontology—the study of fossils of long-extinct animals, such as dinosaurs. However, archaeology is distinct from paleontology and studies only past human life. Archaeology also examines many of the same topics explored by historians. But unlike history—the study of written records such as government archives, personal correspondence, and business documents—most of the information gathered in archaeology comes from the study of objects lying on or under the ground Archaeologists refer to the vast store of information about the human past as the archaeological record. The archeological record encompasses every area of the world that has ever been occupied by humans, as well as all of the material remains contained in those areas. Archaeologists study the archaeological record through field surveys and excavations and through the laboratory study of collected materials.

The Mysterious Origins of Man:
The South African Grooved Sphere Controversy
Paul Heinrich

[Last Update: April 8, 1996]
An Interim Report
In the NBC program The Mysterious Origins of Man the following claims were made by Charlton Heston In Klerksdorp, South Africa, hundreds of metallic spheres were found by miners in Precambrian strata said to be a fantastic 2.8 billion years old. The controversy centers around fine grooves encircling some of the spheres. Lab technicians were at a loss to explain how they could have been formed by any known, natural process. In the above comments, The Mysterious Origins of Man is vague in two matters. First, as noted in Forbidden Archeology , the mystery spheres actually come from wonderstone quarries closer to Ottosdal, West Transvaal, South Africa than Klerksdorp. Saying that these spheres come from in Klerksdorp is confusing as it implies incorrectly that these nodules come from local gold mines. This lead to incorrect speculation on the basis of this bad data that they were pyrite concretions from the gold-bearing quartzite conglomerates. Finally, this video fails to name who the lab technicians that examined these spheres were. As a result, it is impossible to make any assessment of their expertise and credibility.
